A worried Matt Drudge reported on his radio show tonight that the Secret Service is on the trail of several people intent on assassinating President Bush.
Drudge said the news story is not his, but that "those in the know" know what he's talking about.
He said more will be reported in the coming days.
Drudge pleaded with his fellow Americans to let the political process play out and to not descend to killing presidential candidates.

We suspected this would be the outcome of the leftist hate machine..that nut(s) would go on the rampage.
I would like to place my bets that all involved, if caught, will be Democrats and/or be named Mohammmad.

I gotta think if it is the Speaker, or whoever is next in line would serve the entire term, just as the VP would when Kennedy, McKinley, Garfield, and Lincoln were assassinated.
That assumes the President and VP are killed at the same time. If not, and now-President Cheney manages to select a VP, then he would President of course.
Killed at the same time means President Hastert.

Lincoln was assassinated in the 1865, after his 1864 election, not his 1860 election. People always make little "adjustments" to fit theories. Yes, but the "curse" applies - in theory - to people who were merely elected in at least one year ending in 0. Every president who was elected in at least one of his campaigns in a zero-ending year from 1840 to 1960 has died in office.
Harrison - 1840 - illness
Lincoln - 1860 - assassin
Garfield - 1880 - assassin
McKinley - 1900 - assassin
Harding - 1920 - illness
Roosevelt - 1940 - illness
Kennedy - 1960 - assassin
Reagan - 1980 - avoided the assassin and supposedly broke the curse of Tippicanoe as it is called. Of course it's all superstition, but it did hold "true" for 120 years.

Booth was a Democrat and an out of work actor. He wasn't exactly what one would call out of work. Booth was at the height of his career in 1865.

There's another story quite similar. The participants are the same, but they're both in the same balloon. While they argue, the balloon begins to fall at a very rapid rate. They're late to where they want to go, they're falling, and they're arguing about how to solve the problem. They'll both end up dying if they don't start cooperating. One individual in the balloon has good ideas. The other one continues to ignore him and shout frantically.
The Republican wants to turn up the heat to increase the buoyancy of the balloon, but the Democrat says they won't make it to their destination if they do that. The Republican says, "Never mind the destination, let's try to keep from getting killed." The Democrat won't let go of the controls, and the Republican hasn't found an argument persuasive enough.
Meanwhile, they both rush toward the ground at an ever-accellerating pace.

Sorry -- No shot. The highwater for Bush is 53%. He is more likely going to get 51% or less.

Bob Novak is neither a Conservative nor a conservative, for that matter neither is George Will. They are intellectual "chia pets".
Take a quick review of their columns and put them into perspective of today's idealogical battlefield. They dance around the periphery of Washington's dining room table watiing for scraps to fall.

Others have noted the attempt on Truman and the two on President Ford (not elected on "-00" years, btw). There was also an attempt on ex-President Theodore Roosevelt during his run for a third term in 1912. And, of course, an attempt upon Andy Jackson in 1835:
Two pistols and in both tries the cap went off but not the powder. Jackson beat the man with his cane.

Hillary hinted at an October surprise, something "from outside that swings the election one way or the other."
The Dems wouldn't be in collusion with Bin Laden and his boys to do that, would they?
Nevermind that last, I think they would given how desperate they are.
