This is the second high profile outing of a freeper in recent memory. Some people here are learning for the first time that they may wish to be more gaurded about the info they give about themselves online.

In many BBS software the user can list his/her old postings and read them (like here) and edit them (unlike here). It might be a nice thing for people who wish to safegaurd themselves against liberal activists and MSM types if users could visit old posts and remove information.

Actually it wasn't Buckhead who pointed it out first. There was another poster who saw the documents on 60 minutes (before they were posted for careful inspection) who noticed that they just didn't look like military documents. That was TankerKC. It's not easy but Buckhead's identity can be found from his old posts. I just checked.

If one wants to remain private, and be anonymous, one should not post his name on a political web site, or any site for that matter. The results of that should now be obvious. Also, one should never list his telephone number, unless they don't mind surprises. However, without elaborating, I must tell you, even if he didn't post his name, and had an unlisted telephone number, he could most likely still be found, if someone really wanted the info. Yes, it would be more difficult, but could be done.
