GOP Mailing Warns Liberals Will Ban Bibles

Campaign mail with a return address of the Republican National Committee warns West Virginia voters that the Bible will be prohibited and men will marry men if liberals win in November.

The literature shows a Bible with the word "BANNED" across it and a photo of a man, on his knees, placing a ring on the hand of another man with the word "ALLOWED." The mailing tells West Virginians to "vote Republican to protect our families" and defeat the "liberal agenda."

Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie said Friday that he wasn't aware of the mailing, but said it could be the work of the RNC. "It wouldn't surprise me if we were mailing voters on the issue of same-sex marriage," Gillespie said.

The flier says Republicans have passed laws "protecting life," support defining marriage as between a man and a woman and nominate conservative judges who will "interpret the law and not legislate from the bench." It does not mention the names of the presidential candidates.

Jim Jordan, a spokesman for American Coming Together, described the mailing as "standard-issue Republican hate-mongering."

Gillespie said same-sex marriage is a legitimate issue in the election. President Bush has proposed amending the Constitution to ban gay marriage. Democratic Sen. John Kerry also opposes gay marriage but said a constitutional amendment is going too far.

I don't see how they can deny the men-will-marry-men part.

Considering demoncrats have banned prayer at schools, the posting of the ten commandments, and nativity scenes are now a thing of the past in the public square.....is the Bible too far behind???

Last month a pastor was imprisoned in Sweden for speaking against homosexuality.

If the liberals get their way, it's not impossible that type of thing will come here. Wasn't there a recent case in Canada also?

My goodness, there are a lot of newbies lately publishing worthless garbage. Just scanned this guy's comments; no history of being so blatant as to attach Republicans, but nothing showing any remarkable conservative thought. I smell ozone.

Hi Mike.

The Dems say, "hate mongering?" All that memo said was what the Dems have already done. How can that be hate mongering?

I'd like to know how promoting the Natural Order and God's intended purpose for us as humans, along with the sanctity of life from conception to natural death is 'hate mongering' Where's the hate? Directed towards the SIN?

Love the SINNER, Hate the SIN. Thats the Christian way.

Proud supporter of the RNC.

Truth in advertising.

JFauxKerry's crowd does want to ban the bible from the public square and push the "gay" agenda.

Typical straw-man crap from the Left. The images, side-by-side, are of a Bible and a gay engagement. One NARROW PHILOSOPHICAL IDEA will survive, one will not. Which wins depends upon the election. It's a very simple visual message, utterly lost on Liberal moron journalists looking for a hit-piece. It does NOT mean that the Bible will literally be banned (although that isn't far off, since Biblical verses on billboards are banned in many places). But why let that interfere with an article's title and main point?

All you have to do is look north of the border where they have declared the Bible as hate speech.

I don't believe this for a second! It may be that JFinK has SAID that he opposes HOMOSEXUAL marraige (use the correct word, will ya), but what he says and what he does are two entirely different things!
