The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us outside the Washington, D.C. bureau of CBS News as we stand with our friends Accuracy in Media to call for CBS to come cleIY @ over the forged documents story.
We will be urging the firing of CBS News President Andrew Heyward, anchor Dan Rather and producer Mary Mapes for their gross irresponsibility in foisting the forged Texas Air National Guard documents on the American people.
Accuracy in Media and the D.C. Chapter held a similar demonstration last year at the New York Times' D.C. bureau in the wake of the Jayson Blair scandal where we called for the firing of Howell Raines.
When: Tuesday, September 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: The sidewalk in front of CBS News, 2020 M Street, NW, Washington, D.C.
Bring: Signs bearing messages calling for the firing of Heyward, Rather and Mapes, as well as signs pointing out CBS' record of outrageously biased reporting.
This is a permitted demonstration.
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
Please note: This is a non-political protest. Do not bring or wear any material advocating for or against any political candidate.
It could have been t-shirts. I was driving and laughing, so may have gotten it a little mixed-up.
Sorry I couldn't make it to the freep today -- but, all of you did a wonderful job. The signs turned out to be AWESOME and it was a brilliant idea to greet people coming and going from the CBS building with "COURAGE" and "FORGE ON"!
Fox News' crime was to offer an alternative to the liberal monopoly on news and be successfull. Fox News garned more eyeballs on 3 of 4 nights during the Rep Con than network news coverage.
