Just exchanged emails with Garry Moon, columnist for the Athens, Ga. Banner-Herald. He shared a stunning bit of news with me, and said he wanted Kerry Spot readers to know, since he doesnt know when his column is going to run in the Banner-Herald. Moon managed to contact James J. Pierce, the fourth expert that CBS has cited as one of its experts verifying its documents.
(I asked who is James Pierce? yesterday. In light of Moons news, maybe I was a little harsh on the guy.)
Moon writes:
I called Pierce at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday night. I told him I was with the Athens Banner-Herald newspaper, doing a piece about the Killian memos. He asked me how I got his home phone number, and I told him. I thought he might hang up, but he stayed on the line... maybe because I was upfront with him and not aggressive in asking him questions. He said he couldn't give me many details about his analysis of the documents that CBS gave him because he was still in the middle of studying them. More on that to come...
[snip]
- The key point: Pierce seemed upset that CBS is using his Professional Opinion memo of 9/14 to prop up their defense about the Killian memos being authentic. Pierce said CBS is wrong, CBS is wrong to portray it that way, saying it twice for emphasis. He said that his PO memo was only a preliminary judgment, not a final conclusion on all the documents.
- The (for me) stunner: Pierce said that the reason he hadn't rendered a final conclusion yet was that he was only midway through his analysis of all the documents - speaking as though there were many docs. CBS gave you other documents besides the four that 60 Minutes used in the story? Lots more documents were his exact words.
So it seems like CBS News is - again - misrepresenting what their own experts have told them about the Killian documents. Indeed, given that lots of documents are involved, who knows whether the documents that he referred to in his PO actually concerned the four that 60 Minutes used in the story
First thought: Good job, Garry.
Second thought: Just what the heck are these other documents that CBS gave him? Was CBS planning a second follow-up story, using more documents from their source?
What else is CBS not telling us?
great find, bump
They have realized that the Word documents won't fly, so they are redoing other fake documents with typewriters.
They have realized that the Word documents won't fly, so they are redoing other fake documents with typewriters.
Not any more.
The other shoe is planning to drop on us...I hope we have the manpower and brainpower to prove them false before it can hurt us at the polls in November.
The DNC and MSM are co-conspirators. I hope they suffer a terminal backlash from their bogus reports.
As an aside, I would like to know WHY WE JUST CAN'T HAVE A NORMAL ELECTION? I am sick of dealing with people who plot, connive, and lie. It isn't relevant to me WHAT George Bush did while in the guard. I don't care if he was in the guard, out of the guard, skipped out, stayed longer, was paid or not, took a physical or flunked a drug test, flew planes or cleaned toilets. It is irrelevant.
All that I care about is that he is a man who has kept every promise he made, has conducted himself with decency while in office, and is a far better president than John Kerry could ever hope to be.
CBS was obviously planning to release the forgeries a few at a time through the election. We should see them all NOW so that we can see what the full plot was.
Amazing isn't it. The best experts, using state of the art typewriters from that era, cannot reproduce the memos.
Yet my 11 year old grand daughter sit down and in five minutes, made perfect verbatim copies using her old computer.
Thanks for the ping! Dan Rather did not plan on these being taken as forgeries IMHO -- he has essentially innoculated Pres Bush against any other documents.
What I cannot figure out is when someone retires or gets out of the Service, their jacket with all the information gets sent to storage. If you ask for your records, you NEVER are sent the original but copies so right away that shot the story of Burkett right out of the water.
No way is the military going to allow the official file to be sent to anyone -- copies yes but not the one and only official file.
One can determine the age of a document too. If any more documents come forward, they need to be studied. It's obvious you can't trust these people with these mysterious documents.
"What else is CBS not telling us?"
The possibilities boggle the mind....
bump
Can we sue CBS und the freedom of information act to get any other documents they may be hiding?
No.
I don't think this is likely. It doesn't make sense that CBS would tank their credibility and then try to save it with more documents that will come under scrutiny.
ping.
From yesterday, The Whitehouse acknowledged the existence of other documents, and hinted that they had seen them. Did CBS dump all their documents on the Whitehouse?
It's called "bait and switch". A trap to catch the President in a lie. However, he doesn't lie.
...and Ms. Knox may well be able to say she typed them.
