I was in th media and at the NAB press confernece in Huston when Rather took on Nixon and the (what are you running for?) I spent 35 years in the media.

Rather instead of asking nixon a question at the press conferece, spent the time accusing Nixon of every crime under ths sun. It was not a question it was a poltical speech accusing Nixon of crimes. Nixon replied by asking Rather if he was running for office? Nixon did that becuase instead of asking a question Rather a so called unbiased reporter had just made an opposing candidates type speech. Rather had zero response except to ask Nixon the same Question.

Rather is not one bit different today than he was 30 years ago. The ony difference is there was no internet and Free Republic back then to prove he was lying.

The only differnece between Dan Rather covering Viet Nam and Nixon, and Dad Rather covering George Bush's NG service is this time Dan Rather got caught!!

Dream on Dan.. Rather would have verified them on the original show if he had verification.

Most people don't know how the public reacts. Rather was counting on Bush retaliating with denials. Rather would accuse and Bush would deny. The debate would be over the content of the forged documents and Bush's denial of the documents. that is why Rather sent copies of the Documents to the White House. Rove fooled the CBS by releasing the Documents to the Press. By not responding the white house caused the major story to be the athenticity of the documents themselves. That was the major miscalculation of Rather.

It was 180 degees from what he expected. Rather played liars poker with Bush and lost.

YOu see if bush responded with denials, then half the swing voters would have believed bush was guilty and half would have believed it was a lie. The end result would have taken an 8 point bush lead in the race and turned it into a tie.

But Bush did not fall for dans ploy. So it is likley that the race will turn inot a big Bush win.

Dan Rather and Kerry played liars poker with Bush and Rove and lost.

What is interesting is that Rather would refer to Burkett as an "unempeachable source".

KINKO's is evidentally in the chain of custody of evidence of where the phony memos came from and who sent them to CBS and who created them.

They sure are. The question for Freepers and The Blog is:

Can any civil action be taken to get at Kinko's records?

The Bush Administration is not going to touch this hot potato before the election and so I do not expect to see the FBI wandering around Kinko's looking at fax records and such. We are goint to have to out this thing ourselves.

Where are the lawyers now that we need them?

According to The Hill, the memos were in the DNC's Fortunate Son ad July 20, and both the DNC and CBS had the documents six weeks ago.

Timeline is wrong, or this lady told a lie or something.....

They realized they screwed up, and the DNC covered their tracks. They are blaming to lay this on Burkett, but he isn't an "unimpeachable" source.

My money's on Chris Lehane and the Texans for Truth BS.

They are so stupid it wouldn't surprise me at all. ;)

I bet the DNC's Criminal strategists staff, that the Clintons used, weren't consulted on how to cover the rats tracks. They should know by now that they have to hire these DNC crime experts in order to get away with these sort of crimes.

Anybody remember who is running for President? Talk about sucking the political air out of a campaign.

I totally agree with you. This is too amateurish. My take is that it's the Clintons.

From today's New York Times:

This week, The Abilene Reporter-News identified Mr. Burkett as a suspected source of the CBS documents. At the Callahan County Farmers' Co-op in Baird, a gathering place where Mr. Burkett has been a frequent presence, his role as a public accuser of the president stirred strong emotions. Pete Mendez, a former firefighter who says he is one of the few open Democrats in the county as well as one of Mr. Burkett's few defenders, said the reports had made Mr. Burkett a pariah. Mr. Burkett has recently complained that when he sat down at the co-op table, all his neighbors rose and left, Mr. Mendez said.

Poor poor Bill...NOT! ROFLOL!

It just frosts me that the media-wing of the DNC is screaming about "the content" of the admittedly FORGED memos, but when DNC memos are discovered on an unsecured computer admitting to manipulating the judicial nominations process for political gain, the focus of the lamestream media was on how the eeeevil Republicans were able to obtain these "secret" memos.

Dems are complete frauds, and the party itself is a caricature of a national party.

You need to post your James Moore link to this thread.
He is quoted in the WP story on Bill Burkett.
Looks like they are trying to throw Burkett under the bus, but I support your research - I think it James Moore.
