~10:41pm~ EST JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH ABILENE KINKOS: Bill Burkett has a standing account with the Kinkos in Abilene Texas, and while the lady who answered the phone would not be more specific she did say Burkett was in there last week - she waited on him on last (a week ago) Tuesday....

That hard drive at Kinko's needs to be secured before "Uncle Vito" shows up unexpectedly.

Also, according to the article, she said he was last in there a week ago Thursday.

That is the 9th. That date is stamped on the documents.

The Clinton's wouldn't have left any of these loose ends.

I have nothing useful to say but I did live in Abilene for eight years, met my wife, finished my undergraduate degree, (after USAF second term) and had my first son.

I still check and see how the Eagles are doing every now and then.

I think Rather was set up, too. Posted that a long time ago. If so, it does not excuse the negligence of not checking for validity. Rather was too eager, probably. Nor does it excuse his silence now. But something isn't ringing true here. Also (this may have been asked already), do we know for sure what Burkett had copied at Kinko's?

Rather knew what he was doing. Prior to showing it, 2 out of his 3 document experts said that they couldn't authenticate the document, and the 3rd one (Matley) said that he could only authenticate the signature in 1 document.

It was a hit piece based on knowingly forged documents.

Ah, now I can put 2 and 2 together:

"Documents allegedly written by a deceased officer that raised questions about President Bush's service with the Texas Air National Guard bore markings showing they had been faxed to CBS News from a Kinko's copy shop in Abilene, Tex., according to another former Guard officer who was shown the records by the network."

Of course, if this small little item was included in post #1, then I wouldn't have had to write post #400 at all. Those extra 5-10 seconds it would have taken to explain, I dunno, why the fact that Mr. Burkett has an account at the Abeline Kinko's is noteworthy would have been both nice and, frankly, courteous.

Placing David Van Os on the Texas Supreme Court will be one of Karl's worst nightmares. We the people have the power to make it happen.

Davis Van Os will be elected to the Texas Supreme Court when Texans start wearing skirts and stop drinking beer.

Texas Democrats are a vicious and bitter bunch. Thirty years ago, they ruled the state -- owning every state office and 90% of the legislature. The tide ran steadily against them during the Reagan years but, when GWB ran for governor in '94, they were still competitive in statewide elections and remained in firm control of the legislature.

Now, just ten years later, the party no longer has a single statewide office...and no prospects for gaining one. They are a vocal minority in the legislature, but essentially powerless -- unless they depart the state en masse and deny quorum.

The present day Democrat party in Texas is a rump party -- and the white liberals within it are essentially disenfranchised. The only Democrats who can be reliably elected anymore are minorities. The only place in Texas where a white liberal can survive is in Travis County (Austin).

You might say that GWB turned a once dominant and still arrogant party into roadkill and kicked their sorry carcasses into the borrow ditch.

And they well and truly hate him for it. I believe the state's recent political history has spawned an especially virulent form of Bushophobia here in Texas.

I agree. It was a hit piece. Rather knew what he was doing. What a way to retire, eh? decimate a sitting war time president and get away with it.

Didnt happen, did it? Thank God people can think for themselves. :)

I hope some freepers go by and ask a few questions before the management gets wind and shuts everyone up.

I think Burkett might be trying to "run interference" for the Kerry campaign. :)

I have heard that, but I don't remember where and have never verified it. I don't recall seeing that in the few records he has available on his site, but that's of no consequence because I have read way too much stuff lately to be sure of anything! :)

First rule of an investigation....don't jump to the most obvious conclusions. She may also be anxiously looking to point someone in the wrong direction too.
