Placing David Van Os on the Texas Supreme Court will be one of Karl's worst nightmares. We the people have the power to make it happen.

Davis Van Os will be elected to the Texas Supreme Court when Texans start wearing skirts and stop drinking beer.

Texas Democrats are a vicious and bitter bunch. Thirty years ago, they ruled the state -- owning every state office and 90% of the legislature. The tide ran steadily against them during the Reagan years but, when GWB ran for governor in '94, they were still competitive in statewide elections and remained in firm control of the legislature.

Now, just ten years later, the party no longer has a single statewide office...and no prospects for gaining one. They are a vocal minority in the legislature, but essentially powerless -- unless they depart the state en masse and deny quorum.

The present day Democrat party in Texas is a rump party -- and the white liberals within it are essentially disenfranchised. The only Democrats who can be reliably elected anymore are minorities. The only place in Texas where a white liberal can survive is in Travis County (Austin).

You might say that GWB turned a once dominant and still arrogant party into roadkill and kicked their sorry carcasses into the borrow ditch.

And they well and truly hate him for it. I believe the state's recent political history has spawned an especially virulent form of Bushophobia here in Texas.
