on a side note....I was going to go on Dale Peterson's realty site and show you where we rented in July just a few blocks east of Luna del Mar and his site is down.

I've found them over the past few years to be great to deal with at the office right there on 30-A near Luna del Mar.

I wonder how Chip the Beach Guy is faring.....we always rent chairs and umbrellas from him (the gold and blue ones) and this past year he never came by to collect....when I got back to Nashville I called him and he admonished me not to worry...just pay him next summer....gotta love that.

You know, I spent a lot of time in the tropics from 80-96 but now living in hill and hollow country, I again have an appreciation for the beach again like when I was a kid.

We have a mountain home in NC(courtesy of dad, rip) but frankly I don't see how anyone can afford a beachfront home on 30-A anymore.....it runs about 20K per linear foot for the lot and then the building costs....hell, those cute but smallish one bedroom condos at Rosemary beach several blocks from the actual beach go for 500-750K...the big nice ones are several million. Lots of Nashville moneyed folk doing the Rosemary thang...it's a bit of a status thingie around here.

I wonder who is building that flying saucer looking huge home just west of Rosemary?...I'm sure you've seen it.

Oh well....I really like it there...music on the lawn at Seaside, the food and the beaches....it's great.

How does anyone pay off their mortgage down there with rentals like in the old days?...I guess a lot of folks don't have mortgages.

I saw that thing last September when I went down for a fishing trip.

I have a friend that lives in Laguna beach and builds houses. He said the rumor is it's some NBA player.

Whoever it is...they bought millions of dollars worth of ugly.

Chip the Beach Guy was the first around our area to rent umbrellas and beach chairs. He's a nice fellow. Love your story about him.

We've had our place for sixteen years - before the pricing went nuts. What amazes me about the million dollar and multi-million dollar haciendas is the age group that owns them. Youngsters!

That house is taking forever to build. Some days I think it looks like a bird, other days it reminds me of a ship. I think I like your 'flying saucer' interpretation the best. The man building it owns many, many hotel, motels, etc., in Panama City. This is the 6th year and it's not finished. The front is predominately glass. Some one told me how much it costs to rent a crane. You know, a crane has been sitting there for years. He owns that crane one way or the other.

Some people down there rent between 4000.00 - 7000.00 a week. I can't fathom such fees.

Glad you like it there so much. We want to retire in paradise one of these days. Soon.
