Sounds like a back-track to me....admitting they need more.
And here's a theory as to why, which ties into 2 other facts.
1) Rather won't retire until spring, until after the Pres. election
2)He's been working on this story for 5 years.
3) In other words, use it now, or never. He's been saving the Mother of All Scoops and can't stand to see it go to waste, so he fudged the verification.

This tells me they're in so deep there is no way out, and the only thing they can do is brazenly pretend the problem doesn't exist.
This also tells me the scam goes straight to the DNC and Kerry Campaign inner circles. If it were simply some nobody feeding them forged documents, they could fess up to that.
CBS is cooked. Hopefully so are the DNC and Kerry Campaign.

I dropped a message in the 'feedback' box but I doubt that goes anywhere. Hmmm, I wish I had my laptop. I think I have them in there.

When the CBS exec said bloggers are nothing more than slobs in their pajamas -he obviously thought we all wear fuzzy jammies with feet and suck on binkys.
Nothing more than Homer Simpsons with laptops.
But, even Homer Simpson would be insulted by this statement.
And I bet even Homer could spell better.
BTW-NBC Nightly News did a pretty fair piece tonight on the CBS scandal, except that said that Granny verified that George Bush missed his flight physical.

As an aside...
Pres. Clinton, and Administration officials, react to Sandy Berger's comment that he can't sit straight up because he has classified documents in his pants.

Ken Charles, the Station Manager for 950KPRC in Houston (the largest talk station in Houston) just sent the CBS News VP all his nasty e-mails and told them that CBS will either fire Dan Rather by Monday and come completely clean on the matter or he will take CBS News off the air of his radio stations (he manages two of the largest in Houston). Wow, thank you for the link!!!!!!!

The Secretary Marian Knox says she didn't type the documents and they are forgeries but the information is correct in the memos. She contradicts her first public statement, in which she said that she had no personal knowledge of 1Lt. GW Bush.
Also says Killian didn't like Bush.
She contradicts Killian's widow, who last week said her husband liked Bush, and was proud to have him in the ANG.

The 'secret' about the source of the forged memo is right out in front of the world's eyes, if anyone cares to see. It was one obvious key element in the DNC/Kerry campaign's coordinated 'Fortunate Son' attack on the President.
Well said!
