Statement by the President of CBS News, Andrew Heyward:
"We established to our satisfaction that the memos were accurate or we would not have put them on television. There was a great deal of coroborating [sic] evidence from people in a position to know. Having said that, given all the questions about them, we believe we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing."
You can do that too.

If they are so certain they are legitimate then WHY the "further investigation"?
Playing it BOTH ways?
What a bunch of losers!
This is so pathetic. It took them ALL DAY to come up with this?
CBS is dead.
"We established to our satisfaction...
There's another one.
Meanwhile, Rather is now talking to the secretary -- let's see if he is able to get her to say what he needs -- and puts her on the show tonight.
Oh man, we waited all day for THAT!? Lame...
If that is the real statement, the lack of clarity is breathtaking. From a news(?) network?
this still raises more questions..
a)who is "in the position to know."
b)they said that the information was accurate - NOT THAT THE DOCUMENTS ARE AUTHENTIC.
c)what efforts are they talking about? who and what is the methodology?
all in all, they basically are giving the public a big, fat middle finger.
I will charitably assume that your final "its" had an erroneous apostrophe intentionally, in mockery of the aforementioned spell-check.
You can do that too.

Hmm, how about superscript on typewritertext? Cbs
Look for David Letterman to be in the anchor chair in 10 minutes.
That's IT????

Nice spelling, Andy, and nice grammar.
You established that the memos 'were' accurate? You mean they're not accurate anymore? Or did you mean you established they 'are' accurate?
And do you mean by saying they are 'accurate' to say something less than 'authentic?' Is CBS still willing to say the memos "are authentic" or not?
You put your finger on it.
CBS is betting the ranch on the clouding effects of time. Let's keep this story out there in all of its stark nudity. CBS-you have been exposed for the hacks you are.
If that is the real statement, the lack of clarity is breathtaking. From a news(?) network?
Which.
Questions?
This documents are true, you have no reason to doubt what CBS has told the masses of American people, we are more intelligent that most Americans....Baghdad Bob.
In other words, they need additional time to fabricate some more outlandish theories or ad hominem attacks to make the forgery appear more credible.
Sure they would have. And their President can't even take the time to spell "corroborating" correctly. Something tells me after a whole day of stonewalling, they can't even back up a lousy statement with concrete evidence! BUH-BYE CBS!
Oh, I get it ... they are "accurate" but not authentic and beause of this there must be "further investigation"?
LOL!
How come ANYONE that CBS spoke to PRIOR to their show said they were forged?
