Do I have time to go change into PJs?
yep, they are putting words into the mouth of an 86 year old partisan woman.
Well, if they lurk here, they know she's given contraditicing statements whether she even met Bush.
Looks like they are going with *content is true, docs are fake*...
oh my god! they're going with the "they're fake but the content is real" defense!
They will have to use the spin of 'She said the memos were fake but the contents were true therefor Danny Boy was perfect.
Meanwhile CBS's lawyers are probably bricking in their pants over this mess: Document experts ingored but reported as verfying, Sarbannes-Oxley, and the estate of Col. Killian will all need to be examed to see their potential exposure.
Even if CBS relies on the secretary, it becomes she said/they said since Kilian's wife and son both said not only did Killian like president Bush a lot but he never had a personal file and never would have kept a memo like that. So who is everyone going to believe, the secretary or his family?
Isn't it a little late for this? Would we have expected CBS's 60 mins program to have been doing this exactly ONE WEEK AGO---before the program was aired?
So, they're going with: "the memos are fake but the story is true."?
This is going to backfire on CBS big time. If she goes on the air and makes allegations as to what Killian thought, she will have to appear on other competing news programs, or she will have no credibility. Any decent interviewer should have no trouble deconstructing her story and bringing out contradictions and inconsistencies in her story.
By this time next week - her lies will be the story and the Kerry campaign will still be in the background.
