Kelley Wright just reported that CBS is expected to make a statement this morning regarding the documents!
Im predicting a pathetic pseudo retraction that will cause the story to linger into next week.
CBS (and the Kerry campaign) desperately wants the story to end with the news cycle this week but I think Rather will be stupid, arrogant and continue to fight a battle he has no hope of winning.
I have not seen any Swift ad mentioning Kerry not signing the form to release his military records. If there is such an ad, it needs to be played everywhere.
Anyone have a theory as to why Straudt has kept quiet this whole time? He won't return calls from reporters.
You are right. Remember last February when this issue was resurrected?
You may not have seen it, but there was a WH press briefing and words cannot describe the rabid dog approach the reporters took then. They acted like they had a major scandal in the works.
The issue is they want something--ANYTHING--to bring down this president, and they have returned to this topic time and again. Now resorting to making up documents in order to try and give it traction.
Then they can fire all those six- or seven-figure salaries who take the money, among other duties, to face microphones and answer questions at times like this.
Stave off bankruptcy a bit longer.
You're looking at it from the wrong perspective, FRiend. This is not defensive and the hearings must take place, IMO.
And.....it is all George W Bush's FAULT!!
I read that he's 84 years old; he could just be in poor enough health that he doesn't want to step into this maelstrom.

We came across some very interesting stuff.
It seems they may try and pin this on Burkett.
But Burkett's atty is a Democrat....and some info he has on his web site makes one wonder how much the DNC is involved here.
Here's my prediction:
"Some overzealous aide prepared these 'recreations' of memos seen by the aide but later destroyed accidentally. As 'recreations,' these memos should not have been presented as originals. However, as the content IS real, key questions to the Bush administration remain unanswered. That is all."
Clarify = They're gonna retype them in monospace - sans superscript.
You cant be series about being exited! That's hugh!
I read over on the DUmmies board that Rather is supposed to interview the secretary today. They are ecstatic, because they are sure that this will allow Rather to ignore questions about the documents themselves, and to concentrate on the charges instead (since they are coming live from "someone who was there").
CBS will release an email at noon, per FOX news....
IF they back off the bogus story....it would not shock me that they would do it today.
By evening news time today....Hurrican Ivan will dominate every news bit. And CBS knows the cover they could take under that.
I heard the statement will be at 11:00 am. If so, here we go!
