You're looking at it from the wrong perspective, FRiend. This is not defensive and the hearings must take place, IMO.
Our opinions diverge on the wisdom of making this a Congressional matter, and I've expressed my thoughts in other threads. We may see Congressional hearings, and the outcome will speak for itself.
As for my use of the word "defensive," it is n't necessary to characterize the nature of the reaction. If a reaction is what CBS wanted, the CBS is getting what it wanted. The story stays hot. The allegations stay hot. If for no reason other than the bizarro effect.
