What is "IPN Breaking News"? Is there any other link to that unknown problem to an unknown aircraft at San Jose?

Quiet here in the Phoenix area which is usually very busy this time of the evening..except for a couple of f15's flying over around the training base a little while ago. I don't see much else but a couple of small planes.

I'm across the street in a hotel and have heard 3 planes take off in the past 3 or 4 minutes. I checked out the window and could see them as well, so it's running again.

Anyone hear about the FLA to LAX flight that was diverted to Dallas due to an unruly passenger?

Apparently he was spouting stuff about OBL and wrapping his shirt around his head like a Turban. (Last Friday night) You can watch the video HERE (Click the headline about diverted flight on right side of page.)

Pilots were forced to switched to a different radio frequency to communicate with other control facilities, she said.

"We want to stress there are no safety issues just delays because control over the air space has been turned over to other air traffic facilities," said Gaby Pacheco, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles International Airport.

Sheesh. Just like I've been saying. An inconvenience? Yes. A crisis? NO.

you will see the skies filling up shortly....they have to clear the gates out here before planes can come in to land.

Van Nuys to Austin....that would make a cool story!

There isn't a safety problem, IFR rules are set up for just this kind of circumstance. No aircraft are allowed to take off and all aircraft in the air have a clearance to their intended airport and are cleared to land in case of communication loss with a time slot of +5min. -0min.

Had it happen to me one time on a flight into Burbank when I was still over Arizona on a flight from Texas.

You were right, and since I last posted I've heard two more planes take off - oops, make that 3.

Folks - LAX appears to be back up, at least for now.
