Howlin started a Live Thread September 10, 2004 to see what Dan would say. He told us his report was the facts and nothing but the facts.
Well, it is now Monday, the 13th. What will Dan say today?
Dude: that's practically his entire resume... :)
I can't believe this guy. I sat there watching and all I could think of was the song lyric 'Your lips move, but I can't hear what your saying..." (Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb). Incredible.
We've got to get motivated here. We need to offer an organized compendium of refutation to all that was said (a la The Kerry Spot at National Review online today). I'm sick. Ugh!
My recollection was that we had mostly manual Remingtons, Top Sargeant was purported to have a Royal electric that made a noise like the starter motor on a Detroit Diesel when turned on.
...that its typebar could be fitted with superscript characters.
I had a top-of-the-line Selectric in '72, and it was like chiseling rock compared to a computer.
And it sure didn't do Kerning.
MILLI VANILLI !
Al Gore used a focused ion beam down an intergalactic worm hole to reconstitute the Underwood typewriter at the other end into an IBM PC with lazer printer
The way he is sticking to his story makes him look pretty partisan.
Yes. What he implied was that the technology was available at that time in HISTORY. But, available to the Texas Air National Guard? Unlikely. I felt like I was watching a CBS news version of a Michael Moore movie. All sorts of disjointed details, carefully spliced together, all working to create a single impression...

296 is exactly what will happen.
Great pic (# 14)
Well, it's a whole lot safer than defaming live fighter jocks.
I hope it was taken as sarcasm. That is the stupid part of this to believe that the commaning officer of an F102 squadron - who by the way, knew at the time that he was at the end of his career - was concerned about CYA memos or concerned to have picture perfect memos for his personal file.
Rather reminds me of Rose Mary Woods explaining how she inadvertently erased 18 minutes off Nixon's tape recorder. Rather promised Kerry he would deliver this, and now Dan is going down in history as a joke. (Photo here : http://www.dorsai.org/~walts/rwoods.html
The Swifty Story was out 13 days before it took on the look of a tornado!
OFF TOPIC COMMENT:
Love the T-Patch signature. Some of the new generation are in Iraq now. Others are training at Fort Hood. But I'm sure you knew that . . . Texas Proud!
How did Killian manage to guess the exact MS Word default settings, in 1972???
Riddle me that, G-man.
Is anyone else reminded of the Black Knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail? "Just a flesh wound."
