My guess is that you're going to have to go back to the late 60s/early 70s before you find any information about a name change. Newspaper searches suggest that this dude had the same name since about 1975 or so.
There are not too many Ahmad Majieds in this World.
I am sure Authentiseal will get to the bottom of this, if for anything the honor of the SEALS, which is more at issue than Majied's comments to begin with.
I have contacted AuthentiSeal again. I talked to them yesterday. All Ahmad has to do is give his Class number. That is not classified information.
The retired SEAL that I talked to is from Class 24. There were only 260 SEALs that served in the ten year Vietnam War. Someone has to know this guy if he's for real.
I have a lot of patience in matters dealing with honor.
Disclaimer:
I haven't read the thread to completion, so I apologize in advance if this duplicates something someone else has said, but:
He supposedly converted to Islam/changed name after he left the Navy.
But he's had that name since 1975.
And he claims to have been an active duty SEAL in Vietnam.
If he joined the Navy at 17 or 18, he would have been 47 - 48 after a thirty year career in 1975 when he changed his name.
That means he would have been a 40 ish SEAL when he operated in VN.
And now he is in his 70's but has children young enough to home school (I know it's not impossible but perhaps implausible).
hmmm....
This is the only one I could find that seemed related. He's recently signed up on what seems to be a SEAL 'alumni' newsletter (not at all coincidentally, I'm sure):
Majied, Ahmad, 2710 Cambridge Road, Albany, GA 31721-1574
I think this is his phone #229-431-1144, and then there's this info:
MACM 1963-66
Freeper service lingo interpreters?
Note: I have no idea if this is the same guy...but then, his name is Ahmad Majied.
