I believe G.W. was in the Air Force when he was on active duty with the Air National Guard. Activated ANG personnel are assigned to the Air Force. It's not like some state Air National Guard unit goes off on its own to some foreign country to fight a war.

On Page 9 of President Bush enlistment packet there is a dd214 stating clearly that he served in the Air Force and National Guard in block four. This disputes the Democrats latest accusation against Bush that he lied on a campaign poster.

I had the same thought last night when trying to find out how the DUs could be so mixed up on this thing.
It may have to do with the 2d amendment. They think the militia in the 2d amendment is the National Guard as constituted in each State. They don't know about federal activation of the Guard, Federal recognition of state rank, etc. etc.
Very likely they DO think that the Guard goes as the State Guard overseas, LoL!! That must keep the Governors pretty darn busy -- since they would be under State command in that nutty scenario.
