Bush defends 1978 ad citing Air Force service
excerpt:
A pullout ad from The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal on May 4, 1978, shows a huge picture of Bush with a "Bush for Congress" logo on the front. On the back, a synopsis of his career says he served "in the U.S. Air Force and the Texas Air National Guard, where he piloted the F-102 aircraft."
~snip~
And that is what the dems have sought for years to make a big deal about.
Gee, are those straight quote lines??? LMAO
Sigh, I've been trying to tell people for months now, the ANG is a subset of, and answerable to, the USAF reserves, which is of course a subset of and answerable to the USAF.
The differences are funding, day to day authority, and civilian employee affiliation.
BWahahaha! Bob Fertik, Walt Starr, and the rest of the DUmmies eat a big feces sandwich on this one. LMAO!

CHICAGO, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- The Air Force has knocked down allegations by a Web site that said President Bush, when serving as an officer in the Texas Air National Guard, wore a ribbon he was not authorized to wear -- a military offense that could have led to a bad-conduct discharge from the service if true.
The original story was offered to United Press International during late August by operatives from Democrats.com, an Internet activist group whose founder had earlier this year served as a source for The Boston Globe and other media outlets on stories about Bush's service in the guard in the 1960s and 1970s.
A summary of the story was also posted on the DemocraticUnderground.com Web site by Walt Starr of Democrats.com last month, along with a photo from the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library of Lt. George W. Bush wearing the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.
An e-mail message to UPI on Aug. 27 from Bob Fertik, founder of Democrats.com, stated, "Walt Starr called the Air Force and discovered that the only AFOUA given to Bush's unit was in 1975 -- five years after the photo. Case closed!"
The Air Force and the White House last week in interviews with UPI said the allegations were misleading. White House spokesman Trent Duffy referred UPI to the Air Reserve Personnel Center in Colorado where Technical Sgt. Rob Mims is the spokesman.
Mims said the claims were "not true. I verified that (Thursday). Lieutenant Bush received Air Force Outstanding Unit Award while he was in basic training with the 3724th Basic Military Training Squadron at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas."
The Stupid DUers haven't posted it yet. I'm waiting. They are probably scared to post it because they might get banned! LOL
Is Active Duty Training the same as Active Duty? Does the guard just train with the reglar branch initially?
If it SOP, I don't know that I know anybody who was in the Guard that claims to have been active duty despite their apparently being part of "active duty training" for 120 days.
"120 days = 4 months. If the Dems keep insisting that Bush didn't serve in the AF, the GOP can come right back and insist that Kerry didn't serve in Vietnam."
LOL!
Can anybody link get to that UPI story Drudge is linking to also?
In the world that has no military understanding whatsoever (about 98%), people have been picturing ALL of the President's duty as ANG weekends. Yes, his almost two years of active duty HAS been mentioned, but never by the DNC attackers. Maybe, now, his actual daily reporting for duty will sink in. Maybe the points system will sink in. Maybe! And maybe bigheads like O'Reilly will even GET IT !
vaudine
They're too busy posting conspiracy theories and drinking a double shot of koolaid.
DU thought they had a scoop, that GWB had claimed to have served in the Air Force, in some campaign docs, when he actually hadn't. Again, the DUmmies lose. Bwaaaaaa.
LOL!
oops another shot at Pres. Bush from US News & World Report
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/issue/040920/usnews/20guard.htm
"DNC's named campaign "Operation Fortunate Son" "
does the DNC call it that, or is that the FR name for their disasterous set of themed blunders?
Is anyone going to pop this stuff off to the Mainstream media? The only one who reads Drudge is FOX.
PDF??!!!??
PDF??!!??
ADOBE DIDN'T EVEN EXIST IN 1968, THERE'S NO WAY THIS DOCUMENT IS REAL!!
THE DNC BLEW THIS FROM THE GET GO!
Some one posted the 'disputed' flyer last night.
If you look at the flyer, it says Bush was in the Air Force and Air National Guard.
THIS IS IMPORTANT. The AIR GUARD...according to the Air Force...is part of the Air Force. It is a reserve component.
ALSO, Drudge says that the DNC refutation is based on...
"But according to Air Force officials, Air National Guardsmen are not counted as members of the active-duty Air Force." "
NOTICE THEY ARE PLAYING WITH WORDS. The Air Force officials did NOT say that the Air Guard was not part of the Air Force. They said they don't consider them active duty.
Bush WAS Active Duty. As his records show. As is any other Guardsman. Heck, their time is basic is active.
BUT IT DOES NOT MATTER.....Because the Guard is part of the USAF.
ADT is the same as active duty. There are only minor differences. One being the headcount for chow. They make reservist, regulars, different branches and guardsmen sign on different headcount sheets for accounting purposes. At least they do today.
I have claimed many times that I was active duty while I went through Basic and AIT, it took over 5 months of my life, I answered only to the Regular army while I was there and they are the ones who provided my clothes, room and board. Heck they even gave me a handy dandy US Army tape to put over one of my pockets. I was active duty when I went to Iraq too, served with the 3ID, I have there combat patch, not my units.
Last night I did email him the link to the 1999 article I had found (and have posted a link to on this thread).
It is important to underscore that the dems keep hammering over the same non-issues.
Sorta leaves you wondering what else RATher's been lying about all these years, don't it?
