If CBS had any real proof, like the original copy memos or eye witnesses, that would have been part of the original 60 Minutes report. Because they can’t even produce them now casts more doubt as to the authentic nature of the memos.

In September 1987 Rather walked off the CBS Evening News set in protest over the network's decision to allow U.S. Open tennis coverage to cut into the broadcast. His action on this occasion left CBS with a blank screen for more than six minutes. This moment was recalled in an explosive live interview Rather conducted with then Vice-President George Bush in January 1988. When Rather pressed Bush about his contradictory claims regarding his involvement in the Iran Contra Scandal, the vice president responded by asking Rather if he would like to be judged by those minutes resulting from his decision to walk off the air.

I don’t think that any “originals” ever existed. There are too many things about this episode that just don’t add up.

The sloppiest forgery job ever witnessed; almost to the point of intentional inevitable exposure.

Rather’s only “proof” is the testimony of a “handwriting” expert.

It sure would be fun to watch Dan take a lie detector test.

Dan Rather’s Blunder: The Day Old Media Died?

Just thinking about this whole mess and wondering. If CBS got these fraudulent memos from the Kerry campaign it gets very interesting. The other media outlets, who are competitors of CBS may tell the American people what has happened and ruin CBS.

In considering this prospect, CBS may be considering blaming their source, the Kerry campaign, in order to survive. This of course is a doomsday scenario for Kerry and for the Democrats.

They are looking towards a truly destroyed campaign for the present and investigations in the future. The American people would also get to clearly see that the Dems and the major media are in bed together. Aha, the Republicans have been right all along, they would surmise. There goes the franchise for the NY Times, Wash. Post and the rest.

The individual reporters, anchors and commentators for the liberal media outlets would start to run for cover as they would want to preserve their credibility. Can you imagine what Chris Matthews, Jeff Greenfield, Peter Jennings and the rest would be forced to do?

This is possibly why CBS can not admit what they have done, although it is so completely clear to everyone else. It is akin to a Greek tragedy - the destruction of the liberal media and the Democrats at the same time because of the "New Media". Too delicious..........

The prospects are mind boggling!
