Look at it this way -- they at least had the decency to put this piece in the opinion section, instead of the Front Page News section.

The Dems didn't have the stones to push this - they lost Congress after it passed the first time.

Just for fun, let's do it freedom's way. Everyone who wants to have a gun for protection, fun, or just because the Second Amendment recognizes this right, can purchase any gun they have the money to buy.
Those who do not wish to accept the responsibility to protect their lives, their families, and the freedom of their country, can cower under the bed as they dial 911 and get a busy signal.
That's how freedom works.

For those who believe the ban should not have been renewed, the Star says otherwise.
To: Former Military Chick
YAY! I'm glad to see that Congress is making a good decision on this issue.
To: Former Military Chick
But shouldn't the rest of the members of Congress go on the record as to whether they support or oppose the ban? Did this paper complain about Senate cloture rules that prevented up or down votes for confirmation of federal judicial appointments?

Even if this would not pass, I believe that the bill - with NO RIDERS - should be put to a registered vote to let all Americans know who is NOT a true American who believes in the Constitution of the United States.

One argument against the ban is that it simply created a market for weapons with similar features that weren't covered by the legislation. That's an argument, however, for expanding the ban not eliminating it. That says it all right there. These people will not stop.

Dang, don't scare me like that! I thought from the headline that an AWB extension had been passed. Scared me to death, until I realized the perspective of the headline writer, and figured out what was going on.

The KC Star has it wrong. It is too late for Congress to act. The way the law is worded, the ban is effectively repealed at 00:00:01 on Monday, September 13th (or in other worse, less than two hours from now, EST). The House doesn't reconvene until 12:30 p.m. tomorrow... more than half a day after the ban has died. At that point, they can't vote to "extend the current ban" because there will be no ban. All they could do is pass a new ban.

More bullshit from the marxists. They will not stop until all of US are disarmed. Word. Take it to the bank (that cheats you all the time).
I have updated my FMCDH (From My Cold Dead Hands) sign-off with the addition of (BITS).....Blood In The Streets, which I foresee coming soon, due to the enormous increase of the Marxist progressive movement being shoved down the throat of this failing REPUBLIC through the Judicial tyranny of fiat law, the passing of unconstitutional laws by the Legislative and Executive branches of our government and the enormous tax burden placed upon the average American to support unconstitutional programs put forth by Marxist ideology.
