Authentic or not, Bush memos no big deal to retired guardsmen
U.S. Servicemen React to Bush Guard Memos (spreading the lie)
Allegations of suspect conduct during the Vietnam war also have been leveled at John Kerry, who won three Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star in Vietnam.
A group sponsoring television ads challenging his wartime record contends Kerry's own gunfire caused the wound that brought his first Purple Heart. Navy records and other veterans do not support the charge.
Ahmad Majied of Albany (GA) says the latest allegations about Bush's military record are more troubling to him than allegations about service honors leveled at Democratic challenger Kerry.
Majied, a Democrat from Albany who served 30 years in the Navy, including five years as a SEAL in Vietnam, said the memos support his belief that Bush was a "playboy" during his service years.
"He had enough money to get what he wanted," Majied said. "I think his main concern was not to go to Southeast Asia. I bet he never dreamed it would come back to haunt him."

NOT A SEAL
Thanks for checking with us - we greatly appreciate your interest in upholding the honor of the US Navy SEAL Teams, and your search for the TRUTH. If the name you provided was "spelled accurately", we do NOT have a listing for anyone named "Majied" in our entire database of slightly more than 10,000 names. Unless he has undertaken the unlikely action of a full legal name change since his claimed service with the SEAL Teams, I can state conclusively that the man NEVER completed SEAL training, and thus he is not now, nor was he ever a Navy SEAL. While there are other training steps that must be completed on the path to becoming a SEAL, BUD/S training is the first and most vital, and that training course is totally unclassified. Without having first completed BUD/S training, a man cannot go on to become a SEAL. There are definitely secret SEAL missions, but despite anything the man might have said, there are NO secret SEALs. If you choose to confront the man regarding his fraudulent SEAL claims, please show him this email message and invite him to contact me - a real SEAL - directly by email with information that will support his claims. I'd enjoy hearing his stories first hand, but I've extended this offer to literally thousands of individuals over the last three years, and in all that time I've received only a scant handful of replies, so I don't really expect to hear from him either.
Again, please visit our web page www.authentiseal.org/realitycheck.htm for some very specific information related to the realities of SEAL training, SEAL duties, and the claims most often made by SEAL imposters.
Thank you again for your assistance in upholding the honor of the US Navy SEAL Teams.
Respectfully, Gregory Platt

I wonder if AP will even give a damn, and be more careful, or will they just keep making up lies or using liars?
They'll probably give enough of a damn to be more careful when making up lies and using liars.
Well, only if they're loudly "called" on it.
"I was not defending Mr. Majied so much as defending American principles of justice and fairplay and declaiming the inflamatory statements and premature judgments by most of the posters leading up to this point."
I find it somewhat ironic of you to mention "American principles of justice" & "inflamatory statements", (in one sentence!), while in the defense of... whatsisname.
While refusing to reveal his given name, his statement amounts to this: "Bush is a turd, I am a SEAL, and I wish to remain ANONYMOUS."
I am neither a lawyer nor a SEAL; in truth I would not have made it through the first day of either boot camp or law school, but I think that nothing more than common sense is required to be offended by the inequity here. There's an expression, "You can't have it both ways".
Does he wish to remain anonymous, or not? Oops-- he already spoke out, didn't he? He already decided to impugn Bush, and it was already reported that he was a SEAL.
To be charitable, we could imagine that the SEAL part of this was completely an embellishment on the part of the AP reporter. Very well, then pursuing whashisname may in some cosmic sense be an inequity to him, the poor guy with seven kids. But at a minimum, this would not have occurred had whatshisname not lusted for his fifteen minutes of fame at Bush's expense.
Also, in that charitable view, the guilt would still fall to the reporter-- I see no logic which says that either the real SEAL's or George Walker Bush need stand for an impeachment they had no hand in.
If the AP reporter lied, then that becomes another story, and a timely one at that.
Let the cards fall where they may.
If we burn them enough times, maybe they'll learn.
We do have a pretty good start at getting their attention. :)
Simply outstanding work. AP is going to publicly eat crow over this, IMO.
One day a squad of Navy SEALS was making for an objective in their rubber boat. With each stroke of the paddle, they whispered that particularly unique SEAL grunt "ooyah, ooyah,ooyah.....".
God looked down from above and was beside himself with pride knowing that He could not have done any better than when He made HIS SEALS.
Thinking to Himself, God decided to test precisely just how good His Seals were in fact. God raised His arms and "ZAP", took away 1/2 of all the SEALS brains in the dingy.
There they were, seven SEALS in a dingy, still
making for their objective "ooyah, ooyah, ooyah....".
With glee God rub his hands, then raised his arms again and "ZAP", He took away 1/2 of the SEALS remaining brains.
The SEALS in their rubber dingy, making for their objective now had only 1/4 of their original brains.
Still, determined, they stroked on "ooyah, ooyah, ooyah....".
God was nearly hysterical with joy over knowing that His creation could still function as a viable, forward deployed, tactical fighting force with very nearly all of their brains removed.
Dare I, thought God? Shall I? YES!
And God raised his arms and in an instant, "ZAP", God took away all of the SEALS remaining brains.
And there they were, a seven man forward deployed, tactical fighting force, in a rubber dingy, with no brains, making for their objective singing -----
"From the halls of Montizuma, to the shores of Tripoli. We will fight our country's battles . . ."

I'm getting tired of your sanctimonious, holier-than-thou attitude. I happen to have a little experience here on Free Republic, and these threads DID NOT go overboard on this issue. If they had, I would have stepped in myself to stop it.
As a country, we allowed the media and the Left (but I repeat myself) to spit on our military once before. They're starting up again, and they need to be brushed back off the plate with a little chin music. This snot-nosed little AP "reporter" needs to learn some respect for our military institutions, and to be taught that his "jernalism" professors and peers have the wrong tone when it comes to the military.
Allowing a source to steal the name of "SEAL veteran" is spittle, and that's all it is, especially when the SEALs have gone to the trouble of dealing with transgressions such as these in a public manner with their Net site.
Now, I think Majied's cup may be almost full at this little soiree, but "reporter" Minor needs to drink deeply from the flagon of repentance, starting with a public retraction.
If he refuses, perhaps HE needs to go up on The Wall - but that's for the SEALs to determine.
You are right post-message-469.
You are wrong pre-message-469.
And LeanWrite handled it just right.
And your opinion is worthless, to me.
I am right post-DITHF.
UnbelievingScumOnTheOtherSide hasn't got a clue about DITHF. ;-)
I think AP will ignore it, unless a radio show picks it up. I sent it to Liddy, he has a son in SEALs and does NOT like fakes!
That's COLD! Actually, I love Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. In fact, I attended a formal reception at General Paxton's place at MCRD Saturday PM, at "Quarters One." It's a registered historical building, surrounded by a few acres of gardens and 80 year old trees.
That's too much trouble for modern reporters. It's agenda first, and research never.
Amen.
The only time I ever saw him cry was when I left to go into the service during Vietnam.
I was TDY at Coronado, CA while waiting for my first sea duty assignment. Does that qualify me "working with SEALS"?
I've received an email from AuthentiSEAL.com confirming that both names (Majied, Ahmad and Williams, Artis) are not SEALS. I waited until receiving confirmations on both names before posting.
Redundant, perhaps, as Majied has apparently said something else about his status now, but I wanted something definitive.
