Due to continued publicity spurred by the controversy over the suspect CBS memos, the conservative website Freerepublic.com garnered the largest number of new user signups (or accounts) for a Friday on September 10, 2004 since the start of the Iraq war.
A total of 277 new users signed up yesterday. That compares to 289 who signed up on Friday, March 21, 2003, the week that the Iraq was started. That day holds the record for the largest number of Friday signups ever.
It was on a Freerepublic.com message board that a user first noticed the discrepant features in the CBS memos.
Further investigation by other online blogs and media outlets has shown the memos to be likely forgeries.

JR needs to get going on manufacturing and sales for FreeP...ajamas. I think it would be a great revenue generator for FR.
They need to be loose in the rear though, the CBS Dan Rather types are always getting my old PJ's in knot.

Good Lord this is funny.
Imagine a haphazard bunch of freedom loving amateurs - ordinary citizens - shoving it up the tail pipe of the media's creme de la creme. Now that's a truly FREE REPUBLIC - can you dig it, Danny boy?
I thought the sleuths here on FR were phenomenal during krinton I and II, but it just keeps getting better! Many thanks and congratulations to all of the nation's best minds that had a hand in this fine piece of REAL investigative reporting!

Hello, newbies. If you say anything defending Hillary Clinton, criticizing our troops, or supporting Dan Rather, I will rip your throats out. Other than that, welcome.

Since their influx is notably larger than at most times--and since the are all arriving because of a specific event--should we call them Freeper-Baby-Boomers, or Freepby Boomers, or Froobies (FReeper nOOBIES)...hahaha!
Whatever they should be called, I'm glad they're here!
