Due to continued publicity spurred by the controversy over the suspect CBS memos, the conservative website Freerepublic.com garnered the largest number of new user signups (or accounts) for a Friday on September 10, 2004 since the start of the Iraq war.
A total of 277 new users signed up yesterday. That compares to 289 who signed up on Friday, March 21, 2003, the week that the Iraq was started. That day holds the record for the largest number of Friday signups ever.
It was on a Freerepublic.com message board that a user first noticed the discrepant features in the CBS memos.
Further investigation by other online blogs and media outlets has shown the memos to be likely forgeries.

Great news. I love this place.
I've noticed that some blogger or whatever is getting credit for uncovering the CBS deception. I can't think of the name. I've heard it a few times.

Do we have a figure for views over a 24 hr. period?
What kind of readership are we approaching?

Andrew Sullivan is crediting Powerline. It's good to know that still today he's as far behind the curve as he almost invariably has been.

And, all newbies, I welcome you to FR.
Also, I encourage you to donate. The site is free to browse and it's even free to post. However, it does take money to run.
Please note the comprehensive content that can be found at Free Republic. If you have had subscriptions to a few magazines, you can cancel them. Trust me, the information and stories will be posted here before those magazines even go to press.
Then, take the money that you were paying for those magazine subscriptions and make that your monthly donation to this great website.

Does anyone know how the Protest Warriors have been following the forgery story? They seem pretty quiet.
