"...some people--including many who are partisan political operatives--concentrated not on the key questions the overall story raised but on the documents that were part of the support of the story."
This is the comment I found to be the most astounding. In essence, Rather is saying that forged documents have raised key questions and we should all concentrate on the "substance" that was made up out of whole cloth. If the documents are forgeries, and I believe that they are, there is no substance on which to focus. There is NO STORY if the "support" for the story is bogus.
The rest of CBS's claims regarding Bush rest on the shoulders of Ben Barnes. I haven't seen any media outlet attact the veracity of the 60 minutes report based on Barnes relationship with the Kerry campaign. It's frustrating as hell. They were quick to jump all over the swift vets because they were funded by a Republican. Why no similar outcry here?
We are all political operatives now!
This is the left's new talking point and it is laughable. If the documents that are central to the veracity of ANY news story are found to be fraudulent, there is no story.
Game over man, game over.
Yup, and it seems Edwards has jumped on this particular bandwagon, too, as well as the memo just sent out by the DNC to its supporters. Some people are too stupid to wear shoes. The sad part is, some of those stupid people think that they are fit to lead the greatest country in the world, and even stupider people are going to vote for them.
