I wrote pretty much the same thing....but I hadn't read your post.
You are very astute.
The RAT leaders admitted that "August was a terrible month" for the Kerry team.
Why? The Swift Boat Vets put them on the DEFENSIVE!.
This Rather memo thing is a diversion. And it worked. How much about the Swift Boat Vets have you heard in the last few days? The Kerry camp is trying to turn the tables. They will do anything to do that. They want Bush on the defensive like Kerry was on the defensive for the entire month of August.
The Bush-Cheney team needs to keep pressing the attacks. Cheney made a BIG mistake for backing off the comment about danger increasing if Kerry is elected.
Unless we put and keep Kerry on the defensive, the slight Bush lead will erode again.
It is attack ads that work, not Mr. Nice Guy ads. Right now, Bush is on the defensive, even if the memo is a forgery. Bush MUST take to the offensive again. Hannity and Rush must start exposing Kerry as a fraud, NOT keep defending Bush from this forged memo.
Sure would expect all kinds of momentum shifting tricks as the election comes closer. But Rather looked like he was about to break a tooth off when he said the word "INTERNET" tonight. So he was probably really mad. And his voice sounded like he either was yelling a lot today or either smoked a few packs of non-filters.
This is September 10th, 2004 in the USA...how come it shows you becoming a member September 11th, 2004? Where are you??? And if you don't answer...we'll definitely know something strange with you!!!
Look son,
You show up on this site today with a sorry attempt at re-arranging the chairs on the Kerry Titanic after the Rather debacle..
Here's the news... Buddy..there is a big hole on the side of kerry's boat and he is "frigging" sinking. As a rat it is OK for the bail out but "I guarantee!" he is done..
Bye-Bye.

Of course it's a planned diversion. It wasn't planned by CBS though, they were merely accomplises in it. It was planned by the DNC and Kerry campaign.
The one part they didn't plan on was being exposed as fraudulent. They must have imagined that there would be accusations from far flung quarters, but nothing that would bubble to the surface. They knew that if those who questioned Vince Foster's "suicide" could be marginalized as "right-wing kooks", then a little forgery would be easy to handle. After all, that was the least significant factor of the Foster "suicide" hoax.
CBS was counting on their unimpeachable credibility as a news organization to squelch any criticism that may timidly tiptoe their way. They believed, incorrectly, that it was still the days when they controlled the news.
They believed that a partisan media would back up their story since they had a common goal. What they must have forgotten is that these are also their competitors who are always looking to liberate some of their viewership.
Just wanted to say "hello," from the wife of a soldier in 2/325.
Not a chance. This episode is too damaging to CBS to be anything but a horrible miscalculation on their part. They wanted to hurt Dubya, but they aren't kamikazis. They just happened to crash and burn via arrogance, ignorance and stupidity.
I agree with you.
While the headlines are full of Bush's memos, fake or real, people don't hear about Bush's agenda and they don't hear about the real Kerry, which started with the SwiftVets ads and was continued at the RNC.
This is indeed a diversion, to break Bush's momentum.
People only "like" Kerry is they don't hear from him and don't know anything about him. The more they find out, the less they like him.
So the Dems devised a strategy to keep people talking about something else. I agree with you, even if the memos are proven 100%, it took up a week, and may take up more, of precious time before the election.
That is why we need to make sure to keep talking about Kerry's record as well as Bush's record.
I just posted an article, the SwiftVets are planning more ads.
We need to keep the Bush momentum going.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Kerry's actually polling increase the longer he stays hidden? Therefore, this diversion would play out to Kerry's benefit.
Well I am not a newbie but I have been thinking of another type of diversion.. bear with me.. put on tinfoil if you must.
Here goes.. WHAT IF, the DNC has written Kerry off already and this is more of a test case to see what and how this would be treated. Like how long would it take to expose it, how would it be done and who would do it and how long would it last.
They would be paying close attention to where and how the exposure occured and who would pick it up and who would buy into it. See how long they could perpertate the lie.
Consider this a test run for the 08 election.
As a result of extensive discussion with another freeper who has been glued to these threads we have consdered what the calculation could be.
See what impact the new media has vs the old media?
Still considering...
Thoughts?
Except Bush is not on the defensive. He's not even dignifying any of this with a response.
Besides, this is ROUND FOUR of Bush's national guard service; the public knows what Bush did and didn't do, and have made up their minds on this subject.
Bozos like Harkin and McAuliffe, with their over-the-top rhetoric, are pushing this thing into backlash-mode against the Democrats.
Jump & Hump Bump from an old infantryman!
I would not say Hi and Bye.. so quickly.. Read Sun Tzu... or go play poker... a good
blind is worth it's weight in gold...
Just a thought.
The Dems are following the very simple strategy of "the best defense is an offense".
They can't defend Kerry's record and can't refute the SwiftVets charges, so they attack Bush, to keep him and his supporters so busy defending him, that they forget about attacking Kerry.
That's why we need to make sure we will continue pointing out the truth about Kerry.
Fortunately the SwiftVets are focused, they are coming up with new ads -- I hope some of the media will pay attention, and we need to keep those issues on the front burner.
You listen Coast to Coast, don't you?
I bet you've voted Republican all your life, haven't you?
