I appreciate the smilie. But I can't believe they do a delay on a NEWS PROGRAM! If it's news at 6:30 in New York ... it's no longer news at 6:3o in LA. I hope you agree.
Tape delay on the West Coast has been around forever. You think Rather, Jennings, Brokaw, etc are going to read the news twice???
Why do you think that no one watches network news anymore? It's old.
Outside of a few tests decades ago, it's never been live out West.
I agree it's no longer news, but that doesn't change the fact that that the West Coast feeds are usually on tape. The networks will cut in live updates of portions of the newscasts or do entirely new ones if breaking news warrants, but 95% of the time you're getting hours-old reruns in the Pacific time zone.
It's the same thing the cable news channels do. At 11 p.m. Eastern, they start rerunning the shows that were live three hours earlier.
Posts 580 & 630 answered for me. I thought the West coast feeds were live, now I too know they are taped!
