They [CBS/Rather] suggested that because the typeface existed, those who claimed the typeface was of a certain kind were mistaken.

Times Roman has been available since 1931, but only in linotype printshops...until released with Apple MacIntosh in 1984 and Windows 3.1 in 1991.

This is significant because I have seen an overlay of Word's Times New Roman onto one of the memos, and the result was an extremely good match. Now, if the font existed before 1972, but was changed in the 1980's, then Mr Rather's assertion that the memo's are genuine seem to fly out the window.

Of course, what do I know. I'm evidently one of those partisan operatives, or whatever...
