The concern on this thread for free speech and assembly is touching.
You said it. I swear some of the "patriots" on this thread would have cheered on the redcoats when they opened fire on protesters at the Boston Massacre.
I didn't like it when the 'RATs put up a protest "prison" at their convention in my home city and I think the NYPD's behavior here is beyond excuse. If you want to cheer them on because you hate young people, you can do that, but don't pretend you're right.
We're all citizens. Police brutality is not an issue that I consider liberal or conservative.

We're all citizens. Police brutality is not an issue that I consider liberal or conservative. While police brutality is never to be condoned, there were very few legitimate complaints in the thousands of arrests.
Unless you count being forced to urinate in front of stangers that is.

They don't like the Constitution now, I can only imagine what they'd have thought of it when it was first proposed.

The police badge bestows special rights. Don't believe me? Throw a punch at the officer the next time you witness a "Rodney King" beating in action. While the action may be understandable, you have no such authority to intervene.
There is a special charge called "assaulting an officer". Even self-defense is labelled "resisting arrest". You may be able to push a strong enough case against the police actions to have them drop the charges against you but you will have a hard time disproving their charges.
Interfering with a police arrest is just that.
Plenty of people are being arrested for photographing tall buildings and industrial sites even when such photography is being done from public streets.
