Rounding up all illegals 'not realistic'
The Washington Times ^ | September 10, 2004 | Jerry Seper

Posted on 09/10/2004 5:00:30 AM PDT by MikeJ75

The nation's border czar yesterday said it is "not realistic" to think that law-enforcement authorities can arrest or deport the millions of illegal aliens now in the United States and does not think the American public has the "will ... to uproot" those aliens.

There's a lot of compassion out there. You don't send out a paddy wagon to round them up."

I am not inclined to feel compassion for a group of people with waton disregard of the laws of the country they claim they want to live in. I feel as much compassion for illegals as I do for the people who sell drugs on the streets of this country. Of course, sometimes the two are one and the same....

They don't have to in order to get rid of them!

Arrest and fine/imprison employers of illegals (including homeowners that hire them on the street corner), cut off all social services to illegls, and repeal the law that makes anyone born in this country a citizen and return to the origional law that you had to be born to a citizen to be a citizen of the US.

If these three steps were taken the illegls would deport themselves.

My question, suggestion was these people seem to operate in a vacuum, like they have no laws, guidelines, protocol, checks and balances, bosses,...

The guy basically screamed "invade us! we won't do a thing!".

That's basically what he said. And these people are in charge of homeland security.

As I have said before, put me in charge for six months and I'll fix the border problem.

I'd have the National Guard conduct sweeps. Any illegal found would be tattooed on his butt. The INS ("Migra") logo might be appropriate. "Amigo, we find you here again with this tattoo, we line you up and shoot you." And mean it. And do it. Televise a few executions in Mexico and the problem, she is gone.

Asa Hutchinson: But I don't think America has the will," he added. "I think they have too much compassion to tell our law-enforcement people to go out there and uproot those 8 million here — some of whom might have been here 8 or 12 years, who got kids here that are American citizens — and to send them out of the country.

This article really is disgusting. Let not do it, for the children.

It's too hard. We don't have the man power. We may be viewed as racist. We don't have the money to secure our borders, even in war time. It wouldn't be compassionate. It wouldn't be nice. It would be mean. What about the children?

This guy is a Republican?

Asa Hutchinson did a Mexican hat dance around the obvious solutions you and others have put forward.

An anchor baby may stay only if he has a legal resident guardian and/or may return when or if he attains his majority.

An anchor baby should never allow his illegal mother to collect welfare benefits of any kind --- most are coming here -- unwed and pregnant -- because they know it's a bonanza of government handouts that awaits them. Free hospital care for the delivery, housing subsidies, food stamps, WIC, free post-natal care, and a whole lot else. If the welfare handouts stopped, many illegals would stop coming here.

Only legal immigration by vetted and worthy people helps our country.

And that's the catch --- many legal immigrants are more worthless than some illegal immigrants --- some illegals don't steal and use stolen social security cards, didn't bring their families for the taxpayers to educate and feed and house and will work for any dime they expect to get --- some legals are nothing but parasites, many have family "sponsors" who do not contribute a dime to their support, do not provide them with health insurance and they get right onto government handout programs. Many "refugees" are living off the taxpayers --- and their refugee status is bogus.

Of course not. You send the green buses.

And the green buses don't upset a single soul. The illegals often have never been inside such a nice comfortable bus --- it certainly beats the transportation they came in from Mexico --- locked box cars, unventilated car trunks or semi trailers --- packed in like sardines.

No one pulls over and starts crying when they are driving on I-10 and see a green INS bus headed toward the Mexican border -- no hispanics cry and illegals themselves who look up and see those buses drive by don't start to cry. You can drive down to the border itself and see the INS deliver the Mexicans right to the gate in the fence --- no one blinks or even takes a second look.

Only drama queens picture it otherwise --- the reality when people are deported isn't upsetting anyone at all.

Most of us know this, and keep waiting for those in DC to act. To bad there is not a way to stop or suspend the income of our representatives until they address and act upon these escalating issues. It seems as long as we are forced to pay for these bad policies, it will never end.

Show it on tv.

I wouldn't show it on tv -- it might get some bleeding hearts upset in their living rooms --- I would just do it --- they do deport quite a few, every day and anyone can go stand and watch but no one seems to find it interesting enough to do that. It's no big deal --- they walk through the gate back over to their own side, within a minute or two of walking through the gate, they blend in with their fellow countrymen, they've got buses, taxis, hotels, cafes. I imagine it's pretty much the same for Americans deported from Mexico -- after being processed, they would be taken to the gate and walk back over to the USA -- which wouldn't be all that traumatic for us either.

I think we all need to wonder how far the deficits and the national debt can go before they become a problem.

For example the trade deficits that keep growing --- how high can that gap get?

I like a lot of the ideas presented here, but most, if not all, of you are forgetting the first step in the process, and are going directly to the second step.
The first step is getting the right leadership. That is where we have to start. Currently, the only game in town that addresses that is the one supported by Tom Tancredo.
I recommend that we all get behind the Congressman and see if we can win some support for him. Please go to his website. And it is going to take money. A lot from each of a few people or a little from each of a lot of people. I like the latter. Jim

Strange, that's what I was thinking. Doesn't resemble any of the Republicans I grew up with!

Kinda sounds like...like...like a limp wristed liberal terrified of his own damn shadow.

But we all know who he's lip syncing for...
