UPDATE 12: In the August 18, 1973 memo "discovered" by 60 Minutes, Jerry Killian purportedly writes:
Staudt has obviously pressured Hodges more about Bush. I'm having trouble running interference and doing my job. But wait! Reader Amar Sarwal points out that General Staudt, who thought very highly of Lt. Bush, retired in 1972.
The more I look at these "memos," the more obvious it appears that they are inept forgeries.

Great! - Also I was in TX ANG following 31/2 years active duty in USAF - I was discharged in Sept 1971 (partial overlap with GWB's service)
Key POINT: All documents in my possession (orders, discharge, etc - as signed by ANG officers ALWAYS lists their Rank - FOLLOWED BY TX ANG (that designation is missing feom the CBS documents)

Isn't utterly amazing that these memos just made their appearance after the Democrats have brought this issue up for the 5th time this year! I am stunned, these were private documents? I just heard the son of the person backpedaling, saying he "wasn't sure of the authenticity" of these documents. Sounds as if he knows more than he is telling!

Here's the article that the blog links to. (Feb 15, 2004 LA Times). It has this paragraph:
Bush's application, as well as his commission, were handled by then-Col. Walter B. "Buck" Staudt, who said, "Nobody did anything for him
. There was no
influence on his behalf. Neither his daddy nor anybody else got him into the Guard." Staudt, who retired in 1972 as a brigadier general, said Bush was enrolled quickly because there was a demand for pilot candidates.

Talk about useful idiots. Could CBS have done a better job of bending over and grabbing their ankles for whomever set this up?!

LOLROFAPIMPRFII'm not sure what that means, but I'm enjoying this afternoon immensely. Someone needs to keep track of all the proven liberal MSM fraud. We've seen two obvious ones in less than a week!

now someone needs to examine the files on the secretaries computer at Bill Clintons Harlem Office. Well, it's been speculated about a million times here that Hillary (and her flying monkeys, Terry McAuliffe, et al.) are saboutaging the Kerry campaign ...
