General Staudt was retired!
Powerline ^ | Sept 9 2004 | Big Trunk

Posted on 09/09/2004 4:34:07 PM PDT by Dog

UPDATE 12: In the August 18, 1973 memo "discovered" by 60 Minutes, Jerry Killian purportedly writes:

Staudt has obviously pressured Hodges more about Bush. I'm having trouble running interference and doing my job. But wait! Reader Amar Sarwal points out that General Staudt, who thought very highly of Lt. Bush, retired in 1972.

The more I look at these "memos," the more obvious it appears that they are inept forgeries.

My hubby keeps asking why I am surprised.......and I don't know why, but I am.

A little subterfuge, a little spinning, a little misrepresenting.......but this???????

Thanks for the *ping*! Rather is standing firm in his assertions. For the moment. His next assignment will be uncovering the truth behind the Big Foot footage. Look for his newly uncovered film showing Big Foot being poked and hounded by an AWOL Bush.

That's so true because before, if we found something like this, there was no one to tell! You could tell your friends, but that didn't do much good. You could tell the media, but they would just bury it. There was simply no way to spread things fast enough unless you had some clout or influence yourself. So we would just sit at home and be frustrated because the rest of the world didn't know what we knew!

I remember even back when the Clinton's were running for office. Most people had no clue what kind of history they had even though those of us on the internet talked about it all the time! I remember when "Slick Times" came out and I was probably the only one in my town who had it! Very frustrating.

I think all of us need to complain to the FCC!

Whoever did this, wasn't thinking in 2004 terms. This is old stuff, that they used to be able to get away with before there was the net,FR,talk radio, and FNC.Nobody was thinking about what FREEPERS are able to do,when we all get the bit between our teeth! :-)

That's a much better way to get at CBS,than to write to CBS directly.

They'll just say he "retired" in 1972 but hadn't "left" yet because of the paperwork required. Or something just as lame.

To make this point valid, military records on Staudt should be easier enough to find and checked out for when he was released of duty and left.

They'll also try and point out that he still could have had "influence".

Then they'll smear him. Blame it on a bureaucratic snafu. Just flat out lie.

And 40-45% of our fellow Americans are this stupid? The Soviet Union should have just held out a little longer...I only give it another 10 years and we're doomed.

Wow, thanks for the ping, MistyCA! Very important article. I almost missed it because I'm getting so many pings about this story.

CBS: What a bunch of amateurs!

said the Texas Air Guard had nuclear-capable jets, including F-101s and F-102s.

‘‘But I never heard of an F-102 carrying a nuclear weapon, so I don't see why you think these regulations would have applied,” the 81-year-old retired general said.

IIRC, the 102's mission when Bush was flying them, was to intercept attacking Soviet bombers (as in, from Cuba), not ground support.

Wouldn't some 102s be armed with nuclear-tipped air-to-air missiles back then (or at least some, have no idea about TANG)?

Odd that the General says he never heard of them being armed with nukes.

This page says that the 102 carried the Falcon air-to-air missile with a nuclear warhead. google for 'F-102 nuclear', and read some of the results.

"Funny, but in another thread, somebody quoted a source on MSNBC saying the Clinton's were culpable in stealing the FBI files of several Republicans, and now they want an investigation into whether the Pentagon files were tampered with also."

How about Joe Scarborough?
