In those days, you did not have computers so I don't remember ever seeing a date written 04 January 1972 it was always 4 Jan 72

If he is correct and no typewriter ever printed the number "4" in the way it is printed on the seemingly forged letter (and on Times New Roman on word processors), this is absoulutely a smoking gun.
