Isn't it generally illegal to transfer firearms to those who are not residents of your state? Details here:
http://stopthebleating.typepad.com/stop_the_bleating/2004/09/and_another_thi.html
"It is (with a few exceptions, none of which appear to apply in Kerry's case) unlawful for a non-licensee to transfer (sell, give, whatever) a firearm to another non-licensee who he "knows or has reasonable cause to believe" is not a resident of the state in which the transferor resides. And it is (with a few exceptions, none of which appear to apply in Kerry's case) unlawful for the transferee to possess said firearm, at least in his state of residence."
Are you questioning John Kerry's patriotism? Because he won't stand for it!
Well I could point out that he voted for banning that weapon but that would call his senate record into question. He won't stand for that either.
(sarcasm OFF)
Good question. Does anyone here know what the firearm laws are in Mass.? Does he need to have a license to possess a firearm under Mass. law? Is that particular firearm legal to own in Mass.?
If there were anyone willing, they could go down and file a complaint with the legal authorities. Where exactly did this take place?
Transfer in this case means transfer of ownership.
He accepted it and then didn't accept it would be the logical KERRY solution.
Plus, the gift has a value of more than $25. As a U. S. Senator, he is forbidden to accept any gift worth more than $25, isn't he?
Ah, well, that could be, but trying to land a candidate in jail for such pettiness only reflects badly on us.
Not that I wouldn't want to see him locked up - in a mental hospital, for to quote an idea, liberalism is certainly a mental disease - but to try to supress a candidate over such things is highly unwise IMO.
I guarantee you this , If Bush had accepted the weapon as a gift the liberals would be screaming " Bloody Murder "
As would the Criminal Liberal Media.
The liberal double standard once again..........
Kerry is a treasonous traitor and a dirtbag.......
I believe it's $50.
However that's irrelevant as there's no way Kerry is going to keep a 'crappy' common-man Remington - it's waaaaaay beneath him. Ergo, since it went right in the garbage he never 'accepted' it.
(Heck, Monsieur Kerry has socks that cost more than that shotgun.)
Possibly. But I think he ought to get a visit by the Secret Service detail at the White House for holding up the gun and saying words to the effect that he "wished he could take it to the debate."
If you or I had said something as incomprehensibly stupid, you can bet we'd be getting a visit.
Based on NRA-ILA gun law summary for MA
A FID, in effect a license, is requried to possess a firearm in MA. It requires fingerprinting, but is a "shall issue" thing, at least for shotguns. I believe that particular firearm is legal in MA, but one would have to look at the details of their state Assault Weapon law to be certain. Boston has it's own laws and requirments.
Thanks for the correction. Some hotshot reporter should follow up on this, though, to make sure he didn't accept it.
Let him take it to the debates. It's his only chance of winning. Level the playing field. What else has he got?
Thanks for the info.
Quite right. If you post something like what he said your chances of meeting a SS agent or two is very good.
I believe this was at the annual West Virginia Labor Day Rally ... held at a wide spot in the road in southern West Virginia (Racine, to be exact).... deep in the heart of coal country.
