This is pretty critical of Kerry considering the source.
Personally, I don't have a problem with Kerry windsurfing, snowboarding, or any of that. I think it's petty to mock a guy's leisure activities and clothing. (Ahem. Anyone remember what they said about George Bush's barbecues, brush clearing, cowboy hats, flight suit, etc.?)
You have helped shape history!
> "I would have expected it to go over well, the stodgy, overserious guy trying to do something hipper,"
> If a liberal drives an S.U.V., it's the car of the elite, if a Republican drives one it's instantly the car of the common man. They have a whole stereotype that they've spent years building.
It's all about character. This is a no-win for Kerry. Either he's a phony trying to look relevant, or he's an elitist playing with his expensive toys.
> After all, no one made fun of John F. Kennedy for all those yachting photos.
Guess she didn't spend too much time here, eh? Her heart probably wouldn't bear talking about the photoshops...
Woo Hoo! Found him!

These pictures capture him running from one vacation activity to another in pastimes that are really for a much younger generation.
He married the all-inclusive package. EVERYTHING is included.

They sure picked one of the tamer "sneers."
Kerry needs to act his age. A wetsuit on a sixty two year old is silly.
Go FREEPERS!!
Who is trying? Kerry doesn't need any help in creating negative impressions. It goes right along with his occupation of Gigolo to his elderly spouse.
The dorkness of being Kerry, discussed in Slimes.
If the NYT goes neutral regarding Kerry's campaign, stick a fork in him, he's done.
5.56mm
the NY times failed ot mention that the biggest reason people scoff at the windsurfing expeditions is that kerry missed over 80 percent of the senate votes.
he is a lazy little beanpole
Funny that they draw the line at Harvard rowing. Windsurfing is for everybody, rowing is for the elite! HA
Being an elitist is an attitude, not financial.
Bush is baseball, apple pie, and Chevrolet. Kerry is polo, watercress sandwiches, and BMW.
Nothing wrong with windsurfing to relax - but what does it say when you take the press along on all your supposed leisure activities?
Bunny suit, pitching a baseball, trying to catch a football, limp wristed salutes, etc. all add up to one thing. He's a DORK.
CONGRATULATIONS, Watery Tart !
And when Kerry was trying to resonate with the southern pickup truck crowd, he would say from the stage, "and who among us does not love NASCAR?"
Has no problem selling out current US troops...
Very Flexible Loyalties...
Now Character Impediments
For President
I have a neighbor with a bumper sticker "billionaires for Bush". It just makes me laugh when I think what a rich elitist snob this Kerry is, how many mansions he has, etc., etc. Also, what about George "Bush is a Nazi" Soros? And in any event, I thought this whole class warfare thing had ended with the collapse of Communism and Clinton's relative muting of the left's demonization of business proclivities. Marxism would appear to be back with a vengeance in a new and virulent mutation.
