So John Kerry is a super-hero for serving in these waters. And what about the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth -- many of whom spent even more time on this mission? Are they heroes who deserve to be heard? I guess not -- the article doesn't talk about them.
Just to clarify my own feelings, I have the utmost respect for ALL veterans (even Kerry -- whose service in Vietnam may be one of the few things he's done in his life that I really admire). I'm sick of the MSM who try to tell us which veterans to respect (libs) and which to ignore (everyone else).
kerry has admitted he joined the swift boats because at the time they were patrolling the safer coastal waters. Only after he volunteered to go on a swift boat did their mission change.
After that, it was three purple hearts and out for kerry.
Altyernate headline" "Kerry wins endorsement of the Viet Cong"
``Kerry served in Vietnam and he was awarded the medal for his bravery,'' Sinh said. ``He deserves the medal.''
Another example of the Viet Kong for Kerry. What a joke the AP is.
Hey, look, John Kerry gets the endorsement of a lifetime from the Viet Cong.
This has to be from the Onion!
Didn't a FReeper just recently conjecture that the next thing that would happen is the VC would be telling the world about Kerry's bravery.
Most VC were exterminated after the fall of Saigon. They were considered too dangerous to keep around.
But then I have no problem with an ex-VC calling me a hero for traveling the rivers there. It's better than what Kerry called me in 71.
You gotta love this!
NY Times believes the VC, but not 240 Swift Boat Veterans for Truth members, American sailors?
The last nail in the Slimes coffin...
A joke? Funny. This must be the Vietnamese govt.'s view, well prepped with Communist "minders" making sure that nothing goes off-the track.
Yup, let's elect Kerry as our wartime president ... NOT! ... especially if he's regarded sympathetically by a communist former VC.
Unless of course they are picking up people you made fall overboard and the boats are nearly still. In that case they are nearly impossible to hit.
Maybe Kerry should run for President of Vietnam.
This has to be one of the more slanted 'AP via NYTimes' articles I've seen.
> ... Sinh, 52, who lost his left eye during the war
> and still has shrapnel embedded in his arm.
Edwards has already contacted this guy. Since Edwards
will need a new job on 03 Nov, he's planning to
represent Sinh in a personal injury suit against Kerry.
This is rich!..Kerry endorsed by a VC(not to be confused with Kerry's flying dog)
``So, I don't think he would go to war again if he's elected.''
Well, all-righty then!!! That should settle things!
I got no problem with Kerry's four months. I have a problem with the rules changing. In 1971 it was OK for one guy to testify, using hearsay, that 2,000,000 vets other than himself were baby killers, but he was proud of his personal service.
But in 2004 it is not OK for vets to criticise another vet's service. How convenient.
No surprise that a Charlie, Viet Cong, worships Kerry.
Considering that the Viet Cong can't comprehend attacking Kerry's war record, it's clear that I need to give up. Kerry is a genuine war hero!
Frankly, the Magi-parody's more believable.
Excellent response -- Most Swift Boat veterans spent a whole year in country (unless they got shot first) and were in danger most of the time. They have a legitimate right to tell their tale. If Kerry was a opportunistic hot-dogger who endangered the others, I imagine they were happy to see him go so they could go about their job with one fewer problem.
