She has learned not to say "you know" over and over?
She has learned not to say "you know" over and over?
LOL..
must be Cubeula Kahn's brother :)
Guess Kerry must be pretty depressed right now, eh?
One way sidewalks?
Brit Hume evidently grew up with Kerry, and he made a comment this morning about his accent during that testimony.
He said he doesn't talk like that now, and he didn't talk like that before.
So who was he trying to be when he was giving that testimony? Any opinions on what the accent implied?
He did sound more like Lurch in that testimony.
Off the top, I have no idea what he was trying to do other than sound impressive.
Major Charles Winchester III didn't arrive on the MASH set until 1977.
Pompous pretention?...
did anyone note Hill on Steffie's show was shown against a black background and with her black top, she had an otherworld look of being disembodied. All you could see was her head, floating above her pearls,,it was really weird. It was like she was all head.
So who was he trying to be when he was giving that testimony?
He was trying to invoke the ghost of JFK #1.
In 71 JFK #1 was still revered. Remember he was coached by an RFK speech writer.
Boston Brahmin was his gig then. Boston Brahmin war protestor, very hip and cool, smoked dope went to concerts, played guitar, had a trust fund.
When asked what's in the future for John McCain? Will we see a Straight Talk Express in 2008? He replied something like...
I always thought "Emporer" sounded good.
Then said he will be happy for the citizens of Arizona to send him back to the Senate and would not speculate on what is future might hold.
Just heard stephie ask hillary (now there is no conflict of interest there) whether it was fair to criticise Kerry's service in VN. Her response was an emphatic no.
But I guess it was OK for Kerry to criticise my service.
Lying whench.
actually I think he was one upping Kennedy,,his family was Mayflower you know, the Kennedys were new comers. JFK had an entirely different accent, very solid, not a bit pretentious, it was real Boston. Kerry was a poseur even then. I don't think Kerry ever had an identity. He has been on the longest identity quest ever.
Not to demean those deaths, every one is a tragedy, BUT..
what about the 1,300,000 deaths by abortionists every year Juan?
Where's the outrage over that...Juan???
I see your point, but I heard it as an overstated JFK accent. I agree JFK had a real accent, but it was a Cape of Cod accent but trained in Haavard Yaard.
Teddy has the true Kennedy (hic up) accent (hic up)... Blub blub blub.
BTW I live in the area, and nobody speaks that way here anymore, except on the Cape.
I'ts not often I watch CBS Face The Nation on Sunday morning, Schiefer just too much for me! But John McCain quite a draw.
Scheiffer and Karen Tumulty of TIME do the questioning of McCain. It's a very friendly, chummy interview. Sheiffer says the campaign is close but Bush moving up, is it because of the Swiftie ads? McCain says I can think of no other reason, I"ve never seen anything like it. McCain blames "saturation coverage", and says a 500,000 buy has turned into a multi million dollar campaign.
McCain says I wanted Bush to condemn the ad, but if we can force the democrats to join us, the 527s can be forced to follow the same rules the parties do. We're not saying you lose your right to free speech, Speak all you want to, but live by the same rules, is what McCain says to the people behind 527 ads.
McCain names the names of people on FEC who are corrupt.
McCain says, yes, Kerry opened the door to the Swift ad by making his Viet Nam service so important in his campaign.
McCain makes clear Kerry's behavior after he got back from Viet Nam is fair game.
McCain is asked what the message out of this convention is. He says; "the issue of our time is the threat of terrorism, and President Bush by his leadership, his clarity, has earned the trust of the American people, and re-election.
Convention is " a parade of moderates", says Scheiffer. McCain defends the convention putting social moderates on podium and visible. He calls Guiliani a hero.
Strangely enough, McCain says, abortion doesn't seem to be as important this time, maybe stem cell, and gay marriage has replaced it.
Scheiffer reminds McCain of bitter 2000 primary. McCain says you gotta get over it. George and I have a very friendly relationship. He said, I don't want people to think I didn't serve the people of Arizona because I held a grudge. You can't do that.
McCain predicts Republicans will hold the Senate, but predicts a late night. He says the states where there are close senate races are states the President leads in, so he thinks there will be a coattail effect.
On FOX, Kristol echos McCain, that Kerry's 71 anti war words are a legitimate issue.
LOL! Brit points out, that 71 testimony, you hear Kerry speaking in an accent, I didn't hear when I knew Kerry as a little boy, and you don't hear now. (I havne't heard anyone else make this significant point...that Kerry was a phoney then, trying to sound like Kennedy, and people will ask how truthful could his words be, if he delivered them in a false accent?)
This morning an honest Mira Liasson made sense. She did it once before. It happened immediately after Howard Dean's scream speech when she said Dean's performance was normal, not over the top at all from her vantage point in the hall. She said Dean was sabotaged by the replays. I agreed with her then and now. Dean had to be brought down by the DNC, and the media was more than happy to oblige. Tom Harkin, also in the hall, gave the DNC a mighty boost by not defending the man he had endorsed. But I digress.....I always do when Liasson is the subject. Her commentary on Dean's speech was totally ignored.
This morning Liasson's rebuff to Juan was swift and keen. Thank you Mira!
Emporer=Emperor
Ya think this man has an ego problem!!
