Now I'm getting desperate. Somebody tell me how the Swift Boat Veterans can air an ad in October, if they are muzzled by CFR 60 days before the election. I'd love to believe this article, but don't see how it works.

Or... is Wheeler using the term "October Surprise" as a generic term, not actually referring to dates?

I've been wondering about that myself. But I suspect that unless an ad instructs you how to vote that it cannot be blocked. Just a suspicion.

Somebody tell me how the Swift Boat Veterans can air an ad in October, if they are muzzled by CFR 60 days before the election. Simple.
It's a documentary film.
As such, it is exempt from the CFR.
Just like Mikey Moore is.
Moore's movie will be running right up to election day and beyond, because, after all, it's a "documentary", and failing that test, it's "art".

How are they going to get a 28 minute documentary seen?
Obviously the Swifties can put it on the Internet, then the reporters will hound the candidate get the Kerry camp on the record about the allegations, and then the Main Stream News media will go into full court press to find out the truth for the good of the American people because it would be terrible if a total liar were to make it to the White House (again)...

Perhaps We The People should stand up to "being muzzled" by that dadblasted CFR. If we all dress up like hippies and march on Washington, do you think we'll be heard? (I have some love beads I could wear.)

"Somebody tell me how the Swift Boat Veterans can air an ad in October, if they are muzzled by CFR 60 days before the election." Only those 527s that are funded by labor unions and corporations are subject to the limit. Those that are funded by individuals are not under that limitation.

They would have to run Salvo Three within 8 or 9 days if that were true.

Under federal law, the 527 groups cannot coordinate their ads with the presidential campaigns. But if they use individual donations, rather than labor union or corporate donations, they can run ads praising or attacking a candidate right up until election day.

______________
I believe that the 527 can run advertisements any old time they want as long as the advertisement is not paid for with union money or corporate money. IOW George Soros can donate 15 million dollars to "Joint Victory" which is a Democrat 527 and this money can be spent in Sept, Oct + Nov.
