I don't like Glocks and I don't like trigger safeties.

I remember the cop near here who's 3 year old killed him when the cop laid his loaded Glock and holster on the table as he went to hug mommy when he came off shift.

forget daddy he's moved on but one day that kid will know what happened...whew!

call me a wuss...I prefer a bit more safety or a true wheelgun (SA)

a) yes...the cop was dumb

b) if you're in injun cuntry, the safety's off anyhow...at least mine is.

But, having dug my own hole disparaging Glocks on this forum...I would like to emphatically state that they are fine for folks who like them..but to me a trigger safety ain't much of a safety.

OK..everybody gets's free shots to my chin..lol

I consider my glocks just a high capacity wheel gun per se...... :o)

The safety is between the ears and I keep my finger off the trigger till I want it to function as designed. I also named my dog Tenifer....... Had to keep up with a co-worker who named his daughter Citori !

Stay safe !..........1911A1's rule !

"a) yes...the cop was dumb"

End of story.

Sorry, he screwed up. Those of us who have had to fight for our rights to protect our homes and our families are infinitley more careful with our weapons. More stories of Peace Officers mis-handling their weapons emerge, on a daily basis, than folks like you and me going nuts because we have a gun and can't deal with the new-found power we've found.

I love Glocks, I compete with them, and under certain circumstances - open carry, home defense - they are my defensive sidearm of choice.

But they are not my first choice for CCW, for the reasons you've noted.

No harm, no foul, but I prefer true DA pistols for CCW.

Firearms are an intensely personal choice, and I can see why some shy away from the Glock. I agree with the others here that the Glock's have no "soul", and I actually consider mine more a 'tool' than a gun (of course it IS a gun, but the Glock just has a 'tool' feel to it--hopefully you can understand what I mean). Having said all that, I LOVE my 23, and in a hostile situation, there is not a concealable pistol that I would rather have than that Glock. I hold almost all of my pistols (quite an extensive collection) in much higher regard than I do that 23, but like I said, give me the 23 in a fight. If I lost the 23, I'd see it as $500 down the drain, and easily replaced. If I lost, say, my stainless Colt Anaconda, I'd be crying for weeks! I think most of us see it that way, but Glock makes a darn fine pistol, and it's only true drawback (aside from the safety that some seem to dislike) is it's perfectly utilitarian design that seems to rob it of it's own details and traits so common to other firearms.

I remember the case you are talking about. It happened in Smyrna, TN if memory serves. Bad deal all the way around.
