I went out to get some lunch around 11:00 this morning. There wasn't a lot of traffic, and the local supermarket parking lot looked pretty full, but not "Oh My God A Hurricane is Coming" full. We've got enough in the house to tide us over, so I didn't stop there. I did some shopping Thursday after work.
I am more interested in the wind than anything else. WRAL Website shows 10 MPH winds at RDU Airport. Were 8 MPH earlier. That's not bad, of course. But if we get up to 30 MPH even - trees will come down everywhere due to the soggy grounds. I won't be sitting here in that case......:-)
I ache for the people of Florida who are suffering so much and know the Salvation Army and many church ministries will be and are on their way right now to help clean up the mess and provide shelter and goods for those left homeless.
FEMA is good but we still have storm "victims" from Floyd who have not yet been paid - with money still in a State government fund that has not been distributed - if memory serves.
It's the churches, ministries, Salvation Army, and neighbors, really who are the most cost effective helpers during times like this. God bless them all!
