Since O'Neill will be the guest, I'm sure it will be "hardball". However, after what he encountered on Crossfire with Carvile (sic) & Leapin' Lanny Davis, this'll probably feel like a walk in the park...

Careful with that one. I think "shot one person (in the back or not)" is NOT the point of contention. Focus on what is contested, that is material. Elliott says, "shot in the back or not is unimportant ... if only one VC is involved in this action, NO Silver Star".
The Silver Star citation recites an engagement involving a score of VC, who were routed (no kills there). If I am reading Elliott's affidavits of this year correctly, he is saying that now, he thinks the ONLY action was the single VC, "shot in the back" (whatever), and that that, ALONE, is not adequate to support the award of the Silver Star.
The point of contention is whether or not there were a score of VC routed, before Kerry beached the boat and ran ashore.
Similarly, with the Bronze Star, the point of contention is whether or not there was any enemy fire, other than the mines. Most witnesses say "No enemy fire. Kerry was not at imminent risk when he assisted Rassmann out of the water" The citation says the assistance was rendered while Kerry and Rassman were under enemy fire.
Bush had experience in a very dangerous aircraft(dangerous for the pilot) and he put in for Vietnam. Matthews is a weak kneed sissy boy.

That's a particularly conservative kind of tactic to try and make an outrageous claim like that. You know it, that's a Republican trick, I'm not falling for it here. What do you think about that?"

Earlier poster astutely pointed out that the net of Kerry's service was a huge negative for America, because he gave aid and comfort to the enemy and accused his fellow soldiers of atrocities.
Had Bush not even been in the National Guard, he would have served his country with more honor than Kerry.
That, IMHO, is the talking point.

I watched Hardball with John O'Neill tonight. Your conduct was abhorrent and rude and blatantly biased.
You cut off O'Neill at every time turn and never touched Hurley.
Why don't you end this LAUGHABLE and FRAUDULENT excuse for objectivity and go on the Kerry campaign. No one, even this Democrat<~(I lied to him here though) buys it.

Look back to those days to when you returned from Viet Nam and met a new enemy--the anti-war crowd led by John Kerry.
If the pain is still there, it is your turn. Write letters, make phone calls, do anything and everything to tell this country how Kerry's words's affected your life while you were still in combat and when you came home. The squeaky wheel gets the grease---get those bones squeaking!
If you have a father, brother, uncle, cousin, husband, anyone who fought, please encourage them to do the same.
Unless you are as loud, as direct and as frank as Kerry was in the 1970's, no one will pay serious attention. This man who is so arrogant, so corrupt, so unfeeling as to say he had no regrets about his antiwar days may very well be the man who decides the future of our children.
If you are anywhere near DC or if you can afford to make the trip go to the demonstration in September.
