If we're getting tough on illegals, then we should do it with conviction and not apology. Seems like we want to "be nice" to incoming foreigners (legal or illegal) when we need to be assertive, proactive about potential terrorists, and professional in our immigration and deportation proceedings.
How many ME types have we read about on these threads who have been reported or caught photographing, asking questions about and in close proximity to nuclear, chemical, and other locations that pose question of their motives? If the report is investigated at all, the usual result is a warning and they are let go. Warm and fuzzy feelings disappear quickly when I read of these incidents.
