The sketch of a plot to target President Bush surfaced on an online magazine of al Qaeda's organization in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.

A one-line answer to a Saut al-Jihad reader's query said: "The plan you have drawn up to assassinate Bush is good but would need a lot of preparation."

"Perhaps you can take part in it, if possible, and thanks," the magazine told the reader -- named only as Madad -- without giving further details. The reader's question was not published.

A Middle East security expert who reviewed the site said it would be rare for a known al Qaeda figure to discuss a detailed plan over a Web site. He said, however the message may have some "operational value," but using Bush's name indicated if a plot were afoot, it was in an early stage.

"When it comes to impending operations, al Qaeda either restricts itself to heavily encrypted correspondence or already has a localized word-of-mouth system in place with the terrorist cell in question, isolating it from outside communication," said the expert, who asked not to be named.

He said the specific reference could also be a red herring.

"The incautiousness of the Bush mention, on a site that contains the caveat not to divulge 'operational secrets', raises another possibility: that al Qaeda is trying to distract from an impending attack far from the White House -- in Europe, say," he added.

Another item in the news that could be related to an assissination attempt....Blair...UK....and Italy all in one story.

BLAIR SECURITY BLUNDER (Leaked when and where he and his family would be in Italy)

Secret details of Tony Blair's planned holiday to Italy have been leaked.

A fax with security arrangements was inadvertently sent from police headquarters in Tuscany to the Italian press. Siena police said the release of the information was down to a malfunctioning fax machine.

The document was originally sent to police chiefs at the weekend. But it was retained in the fax machine's memory and was subsequently sent out to various media numbers.

The Blairs' visit to Italy, expected to start later this week, coincides with heightened security fears across Italy following numerous threats from Muslim militants.

The interior ministry has urged security chiefs across the country to be on maximum alert. Neither Downing Street nor the Foreign Office would comment on the Italian police blunder. The Blairs began their holiday with a stay at Sir Cliff Richard's Barbados villa. In Italy, they are expected to stay at the Tuscany mansion of wine-grower Prince Girolamo Strozzi and at Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi's villa in Sardinia. The Blairs are also squeezing in a trip to the opening of the Olympic Games in Athens.

Do you think they could get to Bush?
Also, couldn't it be other leaders here or anywhere?
