Here are the cities that will run the Saudi ads:

He said radio was seen as the best medium for reaching Americans in August, when many people are traveling. The 19 cities were chosen in an attempt to reach the most people within the advertising campaign's budget.

The cities are Atlanta; Birmingham, Ala.; Baltimore; Boston; Chicago; Cleveland; Dallas; Detroit; Houston; Kansas City, Mo.; Memphis, Tenn.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Oklahoma City; Phoenix; Portland, Maine; St. Louis; Seattle; Tampa, Fla.; and Washington. (snip)

Thanks.

Well I don't know anything about national radio markets. It is entirely possible that if I went to an ad exec and told them to buy ads within my budget that would reach the most listeners, he or she would pick these markets. I just don't know.

A little over half cover swing states. But covering 40% of the states means you are going to cover a good chunk of the swing states anyway.

It may be a cost/benefit analysis (price per listener) would account for why Birmingham, Oklahoma City, and Portland, Maine are on the list.

But I'm still not so sure about the timing.
