You've nailed it. Away. But which way is that for the poor fool holding the emergency radio? The codes may identify the type of threat, but without sufficient detail. It's usually a coarse positioning such as a county or a city.
Solution? Have a GPS in the radio and include the threat coordinates in the emergency broadcast.

For those of you who don't already have one, get a 1000 channel handheld trunking scanner. Best investment you can make right now (non-weapon!). Any radio of this type will receive the alerts from the NWS/EAS. Plus, you have first hand communications of the first responders. Mine hasn't left my side since June, including 2 camping trips. Right now, you just don't know.
