I am close friends with someone "who is in the know".

Not a FOAF, an actual person WHO IS IN THE KNOW.

I have known this person for many years.

He either tells me what can be told, or he says nothing at all.

Iran is coming "extremely" close to absorbing a preemptive strike or two. (Closer than many think)

Israel is on a "hair-trigger" alert.

It is the opinion of those in Intelligence that the mullahs already have a "few" operational Nukes. (Purchased or other wise..)

Iran has also provided AQ and other Terror groups with various logistical and material support.

The bottom line:

A confrontation with Iran is closer than most think.
The next 30-60 days are vital.(Maybe sooner)

My supervisors on the job are still spooked over the latest Terror alerts.

It seems that the focus is on those Middle Eastern types sneaking into our Southern border.
(This has been substantiated by contact with coworkers in the field).

There is a general belief that while many have been caught, many have made it through and have been here for months.(Dispersed throughout the country)

We are still being told to "prepare for anything" (NBC)

Despite what those on the Left believe, our president is trying to do the best job that he can under the circumstances.

There is a great deal of "stuff" going on behind the scenes.

Iran wants Kerry elected, that's it. If Kerry wins, Iran completes their nuclear program, case closed. they are pulling out all the stops in iraq. and oddly, Iran may well want to provoke Bush to hit them in some way before the election, because the US media will spin that as "Bush, the war monger, now goes after Iran without UN approval". To be honest, the swing voters who will decide this election, probably would turn away from Bush if he took pre-emtpive action against Iran.

Iran has been deploying the first of its new Shnaib (sp) missile with range to cover all Israel. It is reportedly MIRV capable, reducing Arrow's effectiveness. If they are playing a 'here kitty kitty' game with the Israelies, they had better be sure there nukes and delivery systems in plenty hardened location.

The million dollar question is - to what degree are they cooperating with AQ and are they willing to try to instigate something that may cause Bush to lose the election (heaven knows they prefer Kerry over Bush)?

I also heard from someone "in the know" last weekend. He confirmed what you said about Israel.... said they will probably take out the Iranian nukes soon.... in the 30-60 day range.

He also reported about a woman who moved from Egypt to Canada. When she was leaving the local muslims visited her and instructed her to make notes about all the Christians and Jews that she came in contact with. She would be called on for those notes at some point.
