Why on earth is a bag on a plane *without* the passenger???

Because, unlike El Al we don't match luggage to passengers.

*sigh*

To: All; yall; no one in particular

I'm going to be off line for a couple days.

Try not to blow up the world while I'm gone.

I'd hate to miss it...

I boarded a THY flight from Izmir, Turkey to Istanbul in 1992. They place your luggage on the tarmac between the gate and the ladder. You must ID your bags and board the aircraft to have them placed on the plane. Any unclaimed bags stay on the tarmac.

The technique works fine for people who aren't committed suicide bombers.
