As a former Columbus-ite,and a GWB supporter, GOOD JOB!

p.s. I have lived a great many places and Columbus was one of my favorites. Does GV still stink in the summer?...lol

that the ground campaign (retail politics) is just as important as the air campaign (mass media politics).

That's cool what you did but I think you lay blame at the wrong feet. Each of us individually has to decide what's important and how much we are willing to sacrifice. You did, and you did the right thing. You set a great example.

Excellent work. I champion keeping a FReep kit in the car for just such an opportunity. For $10 or so you can get one of those 20"x30" foam boards (nice and stiff so you can easily hold it up) and dry erase material that comes in a roll (see http://www.mygowrite.com/products.asp ) so you can turn it into an instant white board. Get a few dry erase markers (as large a tip as possible 'cause you need thick 3" tall or better letters for visibility). And shazam! as quick as Kerry can change a position, you have the makings for an instant FReep!

Good job taking the message into enemy territory.

I wish I could do the same. I got stuck in an elevator on gallery night with a bunch going up to an exhibit. One guy piped up, "there aren't any re-PUB-li-cans here?" in an accusatory tone.

When no one answered him, he pointed to the maintenance man with a crew cut who was operating the freight elevator in the loft building. "I bet HE'S a re-PUB-li-can!"

The maintenance man meekly said, "no."

I just stared straight ahead, wishing the elevator doors would open.

For the rest of the evening, I felt like a fool for failing to challenge the twit.

The overall reaction was generally about 50-50, which for this area, is very good.

For the Short North area of Columbus I would say that is phenomemnal.

Good job my fellow Buckeye!

I was at the Ohio State Fair this past Saturday. It was extremely crowded with great weather. What I observed at the Bricker building was fantastic. I stopped by the Bush table and there were folks lined up to talk, purchase signs, T-Shirts, register to vote and etc. I bought my "W"/Bush Cheney t-shirt. Then my hubby and I spotted the scary kerry table...NOT one person was at their table!!!!! hehe! We walked by there several times over a period of about an hour and we still did not see a person visiting their table. As we were walking by we overheard a young voting age female say to her Mother "Should we ask the kerry people where the Bush table is?" It was so funny. It sounded like something I would do! :) Moreover, people young and old were buying Bush signs and t-shirts at a rapid pace. Everywhere we looked people was carring their Bush signs. It was awsome! The media and their polls are full of sh*t! THIS IS BUSH COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, while I was there I got to see "Grand Funk Railroad!" They were awsome! When they sang "American Band" the croud went nuts!

However, one Bush supporter in particular said, "It is about time you guys did something". This sentiment was also expressed by numerous others.

First, thanks for your effort

Second, WTF is their problem? They want someone to carry the fight for them. They would have sat in their seats on Flight 93.

Good for you!

But we ARE doing something.

We've been making phone calls and now going door to door, county fairs, festivals, etc.

Maybe those folks haven't seen anything yet, but they will. This is a strong campaign that's just getting reved up.....

Excellent! So glad you are out there :-)

I had my own private freep-but-not-really-a-freep the other day. Stopped by a mini-mall to take my mother out for Chinese lunch and noticed United For Peace and Justice Ads for an anti-Bush rally in the windows of a few stores and a hair salon. I went in and told the folks in the stores exactly how NOT for Peace and Justice that red group is, gave them Leslie Cagan's background and the brutal dictators they support, and just why these radical left groups despise President Bush.

Got the signs down in every place except the hair salon (big, sullen leftie owner). But I bet he was as embarrassed the hell in front of his salon full of customers who heard every word and saw that he left the sign up ;-)

As a former Columbus resident, I used to spend a lot of time in the Short North - bless you, StayTrue!! You showed great courage bringing a conservative voice into that liberal bastion - and pulled off a small miracle by garnering support for Bush/Cheney and the righteous cause. Blessings upon you...

On Saturday I met a couple of guys down here in Texas, and they asked where I was from originally. When I said Ohio, one of them commented "Too bad you moved, we could use your vote up there" just assuming I was a dumbass liberal like themselves. I answered "Yeah, it's a shame my Bush vote is going to be wasted down here." He looked shocked and said "Are you this stupid in everything you do?" I just said "I've got a really big family that still lives in Ohio and each and every one will be voting for W in November".

(except for the one journalist in the family. One liberal and he's the one writing the newspaper articles.)

"The Bush campaign and Karl Rove need to take notice that the ground campaign (retail politics) is just as important as the air campaign (mass media politics)."

No kidding. I went to the Alexandria, Va. Irish festival this weekend (a big, free event in the middle of a busy shopping/touristy area) and the Kerry people were out in force with their stickers and signs, handing them out to everyone. I looked for a Bush sticker to wear, but there was no one handing them out. Even the lone Republican Congressional candidate, when asked why her booth wasn't making W. stickers available, said that the national party was supposed to take care of that, but no one had shown up. Nice work, guys. /sarcasm You turned the Irish festval into a Kerry rally.
