May I ask why you think that the SwiftVet stuff does not help the President?

Because taking shots at a man or those who served with him in Vietnam is not received well by voters.

If Bush thought it would help him, he'd embrace these guys.

You see that he is not embracing them.

See, I don't understand that thinking. Why wouldn't telling the truth about Kerry's Vietnam record help? Kerry is essentially running on his version of being a Vietnam "hero." If the Vets can prove otherwise, let them.

No, the President is not embracing them. Why should he? They aren't doing it for George W. Bush. They are doing it because they know what John Kerry is... They don't think he's fit for command and have every right to tell the American people what occured in Vietnam.

There are some - mainly the die-hard democrats - who really believe that character doesn’t count. Many people - even some nominal democrats believe it does count. Exposing Hanoi John’s lies show his true character and may persuade some who would normally vote for a “thrice wounded war hero” - Hanoi John’s primary campaign point - to not vote for him.

Taking shots at those who served in Viet Nam was well received when Kerry told the Senate committee that everyone there was commiting war crimes on a regular basis back in 1970 or 1971. What do you think has changed in the meantime? Besides, those who are stating this are multiple witnesses who were in Viet Nam and served as Kerry's peer or higher ups.
