Hilliard in Savannah use to serve some good bar-b-que - great sauce!

Never slice or chop - shred only!

When the President was in Charleston earlier this year, he made an unsheduled stop at Sticky Fingers in Charleston - does that tell you something?

Great...? Still looking. In the very good category - try Wing-Nuts on Harbor just south of the 405. The ribs or wings are delicious with the whiskey sauce.

I don't know if it's the same place or not, but in the 70's we would drive over near Altus for BBQ when I was at Ft. Sill. It was great food ..... for Okie's!

I can hardly post this without crying...

The late, great Mr. Pig's in Chesapeake, VA. The best NC style pulled pork shoulder bar none! And the hush puppies....sad to think I'll never taste them again. I miss that place.

In the "not bad" catagory - Dixie Bones in Dumfries, VA. BBQ is OK, but the greens are the best I've ever had.

Dag-nab-it!
Now you've gone and done it!
My saliva has finally over-flowed onto my keyboard after seeing those
enticing and (hear Dr. Ruth's voice) "stim-oo-lating" chunks of BBQ on that website.

The Machine Shed.....Davenport Iowa along interstate 80. Best smoked ribs! The menu is very large and something for everyone. Warning! Be hungry. Portions are huge.

Must of opened the Dixie Bones in Dumfries after I moved. Is there a Mr. Pig in Virginia Beach??

This can be a very hot topic down here!

No pun intended, right?

I should've added a /sarcasm tag to my post; having seen previous legendary BBQ posts like this one, I have a FReeper's eye view of the subject. Just one of many important topics in which I've received my DFr.

That's only Texas though. Sticky Fingers was visited by the President on an unsheduled stop in Charleston and nearly had his secret service men in tears when he did it. He even went into the restaurant!

There were two Mr. Pigs in Chesapeake - they closed due to illness of the owner. I loved their BBQ! Their chicken was great, too. All lovingly served up by the Queen of the Double Wide - a 18yo high school senior married to a 40yo guy, living in a double wide. Now that's the South! :) Hey don't flame me - I live in a double wide (and quite the plush one) too!

Don;t know about Dixie Bones - it's a little hole in the wall off Route 1. A friend took me there a couple of weeks ago and I embarrased him by going into spasms of joy over the greens!

Cool, Ponca FReepers...

When we go home, we must stop by Chick 'n Millie's for some onion rings, even if we don't have time for "meat".

I thought it was worth posting that Armadillo Willy's in the San Jose, Ca. area has good bar-b-q.

I grew up in Texas, and it's not as good as many of the places I've been in Texas. However, it is definitely the best that I have found in California.

I'm a certifiable idiot...having grown up there from age six months until I graduated
from PO-HI and went to college...and not having eaten there.

Only after college did I stumble across the great Oklahoma BBQ joints article
in "Oklahoma Today"...which told of the greatness of "Chick and Millie's Blue Moon".

Arthur Bryants in Kansas City - cruddy neighborhood, great ribs and the best BBQ sauce ever.

There's a picture of an editorial cartoon drawn by a aguy at the KC Star that shows Arthur Bryant arriving at the Pearly Gates (after he died) and God saying "Did you bring BBQ sauce?"

I also like Sonny Bryant's in the West End Marketplace in downtown Dallas. Close to Dealey Plaza and a light rail stop.

There's also a chain of BBQ restaurants in the Metroplex called Riscky's. Damned good BBQ and sausage too.

Up here in Minnesota, I can't think of anywhere that serves good BBQ except for Ted Cook's, ahole in the wall store on Lake Street.
